The Sunday Comics (1991–1992)
Stand Up show in prime time Sunday night featured many future stars.

This one hour Show, which aired on Fox television during the height of American Stand Up Mania, featured stand up comics and short films. It aired Sunday nights, thus it's double entendre name. Typical set up. Over hyped host, over hyped lighting, over hyped studio audience and over hyped house band. Host does monologue, followed by four or five other comedians each doing roughly 7 - 10 minute sets, cut-a-way several times to audience laughing to prove material is funny. This show differed in one regard. It had short films made by some of the stand up comics (with Fox's help) in between the stand up sets. Many of todays comedy stars can be seen on this show early in their stand up careers. I always loved Host Jeff Altman. He is such a funny and likable guy. I could never figure out why stardom eludes people such as him. My guess is he's too nice and Hollywood morons take advantage of him.
