Claytia Gonsalves
- Additional Crew
- Writer
- Producer
As a child of Caribbean immigrants, Claytia Gonsalves often found herself straddling the invisible lines between conflicting cultures and worlds. After graduating with her Bachelor's in Culture and Politics from Georgetown's School of Foreign Service, she decided to mine comedy from the more tragic parts of her life instead of becoming an ambassador - like she was supposed to do with that degree. As a writer/producer, her credits include several short films: Goals N' Shit, Destiny's Road, Jealous, Mia, and In Confidence. Claytia writes on the Emmy- nominated Disney animated TV series, "Kiff." Previously, she worked as a Writers' PA on Real Husbands of Hollywood (BET), and was subsequently hired to assist legendary director/EP Stan Lathan on back-to-back Dave Chappelle comedy specials (Netflix), Def Comedy Jam 25 (Netflix), All Def Comedy (HBO), and other funny projects within the digital space. She's a 2023 Sony Writers Program fellow, inaugural Rideback Rise Circle Member, and a TRIBE Season 2 Writing Fellow. She was also a DGE Writing Program finalist in 2021, and she won the ABFF/WarnerMedia Comedy Writing Competition in 2019. She intends to keep telling stories about folks that have been pushed to the margins until she runs out of stories to tell or she runs out of ink.
