Kato Alexander is a Toronto-based filmmaker and multidisciplinary artist whose work spans acting, writing, directing, and producing. His short film "Happy", a psychological thriller with horror elements, delves into the black and queer experience, challenging societal norms through genre-based storytelling. In 2023, Kato received the Canada Council for the Arts' Concept to Realization grant, which was instrumental in bringing "Happy" to life. With a commitment to authenticity and innovation, Kato strives to create films that amplify unclassified and representation in the cinematic world.
With over a decade of on-camera experience, Kato has appeared in a range of acclaimed productions. He stars as Jason in "Happy" and appears in popular series like "Sort Of" (HBO Max) as Flavio, "The Expanse" (Amazon Prime) as Jianguo, "EZRA" (OutTV) as Christian, along with roles in "American Gods" (Amazon Prime), "Workin' Moms" (Netflix), and various Hallmark and Super Channel films. He also lends his voice and likeness to a lead player character in Ubisoft's Xdefiant video game.
