Susan worked as a model and commercial actor in Hollywood. She was raised in Asheville, North Carolina, and earned a B.A. from the University of Tennessee before moving to Los Angeles in the early eighties to work in print, runway, commercials, and music videos. She appeared in Billy Joel's music video "we didn't start the fire" in 1989. Susan peppered her career with many behind-the-scenes jobs as well as worked as a film and TV extra. She also taught acting for seven years at Beverly Hills Studios and worked as Elvira's stand-in, photo double and road manager for seventeen years. She has since gone on to become a successful author.
