The story of Jack Parsons has come to a premature end on television. CBS All Access has cancelled its Strange Angel TV series so there won't be a third season.
A historical period drama, Strange Angel stars Jack Reynor, Rupert Friend, Bella Heathcote, Peter Mark Kendall, Peter Mark Kendall, Michael Gaston, Greg Wise, Angus Macfadyen, Laine Neil, and Veronica Osorio. While he's part of the military-industrial complex by day, at night, he and his wife Susan (Heathcote) get deeper into their occult religion and they invite the sex...

CBS All Access has canceled its fact-based dark drama series, Strange Angel, after two seasons.
Strange Angel just had its proverbial wings clipped by its platform home, CBS All Access, which has canceled the historically-based, lasciviously occult, television series, leaving no room for a third season.
CBS All Access’s cancelation of Strange Angel after two seasons on the premium streaming service, as reported by THR, marks only the second time in the platform’s five-year history that an original series has been met with cancelation, with the lone precedent stemming back to its December 2018 cancelation of drama One Dollar. However, it won’t be an isolated incident, with the merger of CBS and Viacom expected to unleash a deluge of new original content for CBS All Access, which will lead to a statistically-inevitable share of casualties.

CBS All Access has renewed the series, Strange Angel, setting it up for a second season of fact-based scientific/occult drama.
Strange Angel will continue to explore the odd – fact-based – story of Jack Parsons and the intersection of rocket science and the occult, thanks to a Season 2 renewal by network streaming platform CBS All Access.
The Strange Angel Season 2 renewal arrives as welcome validation for the intriguing historical series, which – initially set in the 1930s – follows the exploits of Jack Parsons (Jack Reynor), a crucial figure in the early development of rocket propulsion who is known to have fielded a double life as a disciple of an occult organization, thus making the series – much like Parsons's real life – a bizarre amalgam of science and mysticism.

CBS All Access’ new drama “Strange Angel” explores the true, bizarre, dual life of Jack Parsons, a 1930s rocket enthusiast who helped create Pasadena’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory but also fell into an occult religion than performed magic sex rituals. As he got deeper into Thelema, the religious movement created by Aleister Crowley, Parsons also became tight with L. Ron Hubbard — the sci-fi writer who would eventually create Scientology.
Hubbard doesn’t make an appearance in Season 1 of “Strange Angel,” which mostly focuses on Parsons’ early obsession with rockets and his belief that humans might one day break into space, along with his early curiosity in the occult and what led to him being recruited into that world.
But “Strange Angel” creator Mark Heyman, who adapted George Pendle’s book of the same name, said he won’t shy away from Hubbard and his relationship with Parsons when the time comes.

The story of Jack Parsons — the very real rocket scientist upon which “Strange Angel” is based — is a bizarre combination of ego and ambition that quite literally blew up in his face, when a chemical experiment exploded and killed him in 1952 when he was just 37 years old. Parsons was fascinated by all things considered fantastical, whether that be traveling to the moon or the Los Angeles occult scene that eventually became his stomping grounds. His life intersected in weird and fascinating ways with legendary figures like famed occultist Aleister Crowley and Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard. As his biographer George Pendle puts it, “By day he built rockets for the government, by night he emerged from a coffin to perform sex magic with his followers.”
A TV show about this man’s life should be fascinating. So why, then, does “Strange Angel” take so long to get to the good stuff?...

There's a new series coming from CBS called Strange Angel that was inspired by true story of Jack Parsons, who dreamed of building rockets and sending man into space. As you'll see, things take a strange an interesting turn. We have the first trailer to share with you and the show looks great!
Strange Angel was created by Mark Heyman and directed by David Lowery, which is probably why it looks so good! The series is based on George Pendle’s book of the same name and the story explores the "dramatic intersection between genius and madness, science and science fiction" and this is the synopsis that was released:
Jack Parsons (Jack Reynor), a brilliant and ambitious blue-collar worker in 1930s Los Angeles, works as a janitor at a chemical factory but dreams of building rockets that will take mankind to the moon. As he helps pioneer the unknown discipline of rocket science by day,...

CBS All Access had a critical success with the “The Good Fight,” and now the premium service is expanding its slate with a new high-pedigree show. Created by “Black Swan” writer Mark Heyman and executive produced by Ridley Scott and David Lowery, “Strange Angel” is inspired by the true story of a rocket scientist with ties to occultist Aleister Crowley. CBS released a first look teaser earlier this month, but the first official trailer teases more of the story.
Per the official synopsis: “Jack Parsons (Reynor), a brilliant and ambitious blue-collar worker in 1930s Los Angeles, works as a janitor at a chemical factory but dreams of building rockets that will take mankind to the moon. As he helps pioneer the unknown discipline of rocket science by day, by night, Parsons is pulled into a new occult religion created by Aleister Crowley, performing sex magick rituals to bend the world...

Who would have thought that there was a connection with the birth of rocket science and the occult? In the new trailer for the forthcoming CBS All Access drama Strange Angel we see this fascinating story of Jack Parsons pan out as he goes from blue-collar worker to rocket engineer.
Based on George Pendle’s book of the same name, Strange Angel follows the real-life story of Jack Parson (Jack Reynor) a factory worker in 1930s Los Angeles who dreams of building rockets that will take a human being to the moon. As he helps pioneer the unknown discipline of rocket science by day, by night, Parsons is pulled into Crowley’s new occult religion that includes performing sex magick rituals to bend the world to his will and make his fantastical dreams a reality. The trailer blends all of this together — and it is certainly strange as the title suggests.

An innovative rocket scientist from humble origins who eventually came to be an occult disciple of Aleister Crowley: The story of Jack Parsons is so bizarre, it’s hard to believe it’s taken this long to turn it into a TV show. Given that it takes Parsons’ story from earth to the cosmos, it’s no surprise the new CBS All Access show “Strange Angel” turned to David Lowery as a director.
The streaming service released the first trailer and images for the upcoming series, highlighting every part of Parsons’ legendary past. “Free Fire” and “Sing Street” star Jack Reynor leads the way as Parsons, tracking from his La beginnings through his twin fascinations. From creator Mark Heyman and based on George Pendle’s 2005 book, “Strange Angel” also stars Bella Heathcote and Rupert Friend.

Note to self: Do not tick off Westworld‘s Dolores.
The HBO sci-fi drama released an new trailer Thursday, offering a bloodier more in-depth look at what form the animatronic hosts’ uprising will take in Season 2. Evan Rachel Wood’s Dolores is, naturally, front and center in the nearly three-minute preview. And though she’s often shown speaking with a seemingly confused Bernard, she’s also depicted laying gory waste to those who get in her way.
Also of note: Maeve demands Lee take her to her daughter and appears wearing a kimono in one shot. Perhaps this is our...
