At age 12 Eskild had begun making films with an old home-video camera. As a skateboarder, watching skate-films led him to practice cinematography and to study composition, framing, lighting etc. It also led to experience with editing software, color grading as well as some VFX.
When Eskild was 15 years old he went to a boarding school where he over the course of a year learned the basics of filmmaking in his film class. He spent the following year practicing and honing his skills with a camera.
In 2013, Eskild completed a 'Higher Preparatory Examination' (HF) at Horsens Statsskole. With top-grades in English- and Film classes, Eskild decided for a career in film. After the success of his graduation-film 'Blow-Job' which received high praise from both friends and high profile people in the industry, Eskild sought help from a professional screenwriter to write the film that would later be named 'Noumenon'. The film, which was directed, filmed and edited by Eskild himself, was completed in 2014. It received more nuanced criticism- this time from all over the world when it attended festivals in late 2014 and early 2015. Some people referred to Eskild as a young Terrence Malick, praising his visual flair. Others responded that the film, despite its 'ethereal essence and life' lacked in its story as well as its sound-quality. Eskild received nominations for best cinematography and best sound-design by EKKO film magazine.
'Noumenon' was used by Eskild to apply to 'The National Filmschool of Denmark'. Eskild was rejected by the school. He then went on to work on his next project: 'Lucid', a short film on which he worked only as cinematographer.
In 2016, Eskild started working on 'The Night Circus'.
