Chandara was born after the tragic event of the Pol Pot Regime. She lost both her grandfather's during the genocide. Her family moved to San Francisco in 1989. Founded by her neighborhood church, she started volunteering at the San Francisco Rescue Mission, alleviating poverty. She performed her first lead role as a bisexual character, in the San Francisco Mime Troop at age fifteen. Chandara Heng is known for her work on Initiation of Street Rat BJ (2016), My Bastard Boss (2015) and Refugee Baby: A Documentary (2017)
