Sunsoft was one of the leading developers for the iconic Nintendo Entertainment System, responsible for beloved games like Blaster Master and Batman. With a prolific output during the 8-bit era, they helped define what made those consoles so memorable. Now, Sunsoft is Back! Retro Game Selection shines a light on three titles that never left Japan—until now.
Firework Thrower Kantaro’s 53 Stations of the Tokaido puts players in the shoes of an explosive merchant making a journey down the famous road. Wing of Madoola stars the magical Lucia, embarking on an adventure through 16 challenging levels. And Ripple Island takes a more narrative approach, following Kyle on a quest in an early example of the point-and-click genre.
Each reflects the versatility of Sunsoft’s teams even in the Nes’ infancy. But these works have long remained obscure, known only to dedicated fans through unofficial means. Now their developer honors that...

George Miller’s epic Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is now playing in theatres. It’s the latest entry into the definitive post-apocalyptic saga of our time and a series that minted Mel Gibson as a global superstar, transformed Charlize Theron into an action heroine, and seems poised to do the same for Anya Taylor-Joy. In my opinion, there’s never been a bad Mad Max film, as they’re all quite different in tone and technique, although we all have our favorite. So, here’s our JoBlo list of Mad Max movies ranked from worst to best!
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985):
The only PG-13 entry in the saga, this movie has scenes that seem shocking for how cheesy they are in the context of the series. The two movies that came before this pushed the boundaries of their R-ratings, so I’m not sure what kind of...

Let's get one thing out of the way before we head into a ranking that I'm sure people will be Very Normal About: George Miller's "Mad Max" saga is one of the most consistently great franchises in cinema history, and when it comes to the top three especially, all of these titles can easily swap placement depending on the day or a person's taste. In fact, we at /Film ranked the "Mad Max" films in 2022, but the ranking on the list you're reading today has shifted quite a bit. For one thing, Miller has unleashed "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" onto the world in the time since, and the original trilogy of films is no longer being swallowed whole by the frenzied hype of "Fury Road."
Miller made his feature directorial debut with the first "Mad Max" film in 1979, and the continued installments have only gotten bigger, bolder, and (usually) better.

There's a lot that can be said about Tina Turner. The music legend, who passed away on May 24th at the age of 83, had been dubbed the "Queen of Rock n' Roll" thanks to her huge impact on that genre while rising to prominence during the '50s and '60s. Her fit, impressive figure became so famous all by itself that she allegedly had her legs insured for $3.2 million. One of her first and biggest hit songs, "Proud Mary," became a hit that dwarfed the original version by Credence Clearwater Revival. Above all else, Turner was a consummate performer.
Given that, it's a crying shame that she graced the silver screen a mere handful of times, and most of those appearances were as herself. No matter who she was playing, Turner showed up and dug into the performance with as much spirit and professionalism as any of her live shows,...

Fury Road has revitalised Mad Max, and now the Aussie icon returns for more in his self-titled videogame...
Timing. It's a very important aspect of many professions, and it can be something that makes or breaks many a company in terms of well-timed releases. I say this as Mad Max unfortunately falls foul here, despite being a decent game. I fear Mad Max will suffer greatly due to its same day release with Metal Gear Solid V. Both are large, open world adventures, both are big licenses, but only one will likely reap the most success, and let's face it, few titles can compete with Metal Gear, regardless of their license. I'm fairly certain which way gamers with limited budgets will go.
So, it's into this ill-timed release slot that Mad Max finds itself, and this is a shame as the game is actually pretty decent, if not amazing. Based...
