Beyoncé
The Grammy darling has gotten eight or more nominations multiple times in her career, and the 2025 awards should be no exception. She is a surefire contender for the big three, and is likely getting “Spaghettii,” with Linda Martell and Shaboozey, into Best Melodic Rap Performance. The rest will depend on how well country and Americana voters receive “Cowboy Carter.” The album was rejected at the Country Music Association Awards, which could be a bad sign. However, Grammy country voters tend to be more favorable to artists...

With past winners including Beyoncé, Prince, and Michael Jackson, the R&b field at the Grammys has given us a great taste of some of the best music ever made. This year the field is quite competitive, so there will likely be a few surprising snubs coming due to how dense it is.
SEEGrammys rock nominations predictions: Legends The Beatles and Rolling Stones face off against younger faves
Muni Long’s “Made for Me (Live)” is the probable winner in Best R&b Performance. The track is arguably the biggest R&b hit of the year in terms of urban radio and streaming, similar to Muni’s previous Grammy winner, “Hrs and Hrs.” The original version of “Made for Me” was actually submitted last year, before it really became a hit, therefore making it ineligible this year, hence her submitting a live version. Sometimes the alternative music categories at the Grammys are easy to predict. Most people knew Fiona Apple’s massively lauded “Fetch The Bolt Cutters” was winning Best Alternative Album in 2021, for instance. However, this year the field is different, with a few returning favorites who have enough disadvantages to make the race quite murky. Newer acts have their fair share of issues too.

Three major players would seem to be going head-to-head (to-head) for album honors. Vampire Weekend’s “Only God Was Above Us” has become arguably their most acclaimed album, scoring 88 on Metacritic. The record has also done well commercially, better than the other two academy darlings in the category, peaking at number-27 on the Billboard 200. Additionally, the success of their single “Capricorn” (a contender for Best Alternative Performance), which peaked at number-four on the adult alternative chart, could boost the band’s chances.

The rock field at the Grammys has given us some of the show’s most memorable winners, whether they’re critically acclaimed industry faves like Boygenius, Brandi Carlile and Fiona Apple, or big commercial powerhouses like Imagine Dragons and Foo Fighters. This year’s lineup is quite competitive, with multiple previous winners and nominees vying for noms alongside breakthrough critics picks. With last year’s victories for Paramore and Boygenius, it looked like the voters were starting to skew younger and fall more in line with critics. Will that stay the same this year?

The film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us follows Lily Bloom (Blake Lively) as she meets neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) in passing and then reconnects with him after she opens her flower shop. A complex love triangle arises as Ryle and Lily begin dating, but then Lily runs into old flame Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar) at his restaurant Root, and memories of her childhood come flooding back.
Ryle also has a dark side that reminds Lily of her parents’ relationship, with her father (Kevin McKidd) abusing her mother. It all builds to a challenging choice that Lily has to make to break the cycle or let it break her.
Taylor Swift’s “My Tears Ricochet” made it into the trailer for the film, and many other songs by women singers and songwriters like Lana Del Ray, Brittany Howard and Birdy back the strong story. Of course,...

Rock music is far from dead. Last year’s Grammy nominations proved that, with some of the leading acts in music being present in the rock categories. Alongside legends like The Rolling Stones and Metallica, the field was graced by the presence of Gen-z’s favorite artists, such as Boygenius, Arctic Monkeys and Olivia Rodrigo. So to find great rock music these days, you just have to pay attention. We are certainly paying attention this year, with a slew of buzzy releases already in the conversation to take home the gold come Grammy time.
One of the biggest stories in rock this season is the return of The Beatles with the single “Now and Then.” It’s unclear if the song will be competing in pop or in rock, but either way it’s for sure getting them a nomination. A music video made to their hit song “I’m...

The alternative music scene is having a great 2024. This year has given us a great array of albums in the genre, including the return of many iconic artists from the past 15 years. With that said, all eyes so far are on what seems to be a three-way race for the Best Alternative Music Album Grammy, which is led by three previous winners looking to repeat.
The first of the three is Brittany Howard, who is sure to be nominated for her sophomore solo project, “What Now.” She previously swept the alternative and rock categories with her band Alabama Shakes back in 2016. Her debut solo album, “Jaime,” was also a success at the Grammys, earning five nominations including a win for Best Rock Song (“Stay High”). Howard was surely next in line that year for Best Alternative Album, which went to Fiona Apple (“Fetch the Bolt Cutters“), whom Howard beat for Rock Song,...

Closer in tone to the sharp adult series “BoJack Horseman” than to Illumination’s bland “Sing” franchise, Netflix’s “Thelma the Unicorn” avoids being rendered completely unoriginal by its overly familiar premise thanks to consistent splashes of acid humor and a plethora of wacky supporting characters. Reimagined from the popular 2015 children’s book by Aaron Blabey, this bright-colored fable concerns a female pony chasing musical stardom disguised as a horned magical creature. But by changing her identity to chase those ambitions, Thelma betrays herself and those who truly know her.
The adaptation marks the animated feature debut for co-directors Jared Hess and Lynn Wang. Hess, still best known for co-writing and directing the 2004 indie hit “Napoleon Dynamite,” received an Oscar nomination earlier this year for the handcrafted animated short “Ninety-Five Senses” about a Death Row inmate. Jared and Jenusha Hess made a name for themselves with the quirky comedy Napoleon Dynamite but recently earned status as Academy Award nominees for their animated short Ninety-Five Senses. Thus, hopes were certainly high for their next project, the Netflix animated feature Thelma the Unicorn. Those hopes are misguided.
Inspired by the children’s book by Aaron Blabey, Thelma the Unicorn tells the story of a common farm pony who seizes the chance to make her dream come true when a chance incident causes her to look like a unicorn, only to realize that all that glitters is not… unicorns? With a pretty brief runtime, one would think that this would at least feel mercifully short. Unfortunately, the movie feels so uninspired that it goes by slowly nonetheless.

Unicorns aren’t real, but if they were, is it so absurd to think they might be pop stars? After all, the classical depiction of a unicorn is fairly stage-ready: big eyelashes, plenty of glitter, iconic headwear. Who’s to say they wouldn’t be able to top the Billboard Hot 100?
In Thelma the Unicorn, that’s exactly what happens — with a bit of a twist. The new animated comedy based on the popular books by Aaron Blabey follows Thelma, a small-time pony with a big dream: to become a hit musician. And after a convenient visit from a glitter-and-paint trunk, she gets her wish — but is living as a unicorn really what Thelma wants? Voiced by Grammy award-winning artist Brittany Howard, Thelma sets out on a musical adventure that’ll have you tapping your feet (or hooves!) along with the beat.

Times are a-changing and no one could be happier for it than Anne Hathaway, who once had to kiss ten men just so she could find her right romantic partner for a movie. Here’s what she has to say about the experience.

Anne Hathaway is the star of the moment. Apart from going viral for her androgynous look, which she rocked for the cover shoot of V magazine, she’s also blown the mind of the internet just by telling us how the industry used to be back in the old days.
