Mikki is from the Philippines. Despite being raised by lawyers, she decided that writing comedy gives her more pleasure than legalese. After working in post production as a digital colorist and a graphic designer for a news station, she moved to New York City to attend Columbia University's MFA Screenwriting program. She was selected to participate in the 2019 Film Independent Screenwriting Lab with her feature, "Babaylan"
