After two decades in the UK film and TV industry working for and alongside some of the biggest names in the industry, REBEL YEAH! founder and Producer Séan Scott Griffin found himself craving more than mere popcorn fodder on the big and small screens. Inspired by esteemed film companies such as Participant Media and A24 and groundbreaking filmmakers like Jordan Peele, Ken Loach, Shane Meadows, and Andrea Arnold, Sean realised that his own role in creating such fare was untenable.
Driven by a desire to honour his recently departed mother Margie, an Irish firebrand and social justice warrior, Séan founded REBEL YEAH! in 2023, a new venture dedicated to producing and distributing high quality entertaining socially conscious films that feature both established and emerging talent.
Rebel Yeah's mission is to champion diversity within the UK filmmaking community, particularly supporting independent British filmmakers who explore vital social issues in their work. Our core principle is to deliver compelling and thought-provoking content without compromising on entertainment value.
Unapologetically committed to collaborating with those from low socio-economic backgrounds, Séan is determined to tell our stories and elevate the voices of those that have long been silenced.
Séan is very much influenced by the indie films of the 90s and longs for a renaissance of independant filmmaking and risk taking that positively influence society and inspire the audience. That's not to say he doesn't enjoy a good old blockbuster, but maybe there are a few too many.
