Wife-and-husband composing, songwriting, and producing team Tracey Marino and Vance Marino met at the famous Belly Up Tavern in San Diego, California, after they discovered each of their friends stood them up at a concert. They've been writing and producing music ever since.
The Marinos create a wide variety of music for film, TV, and various media. Among their specialties are composing upbeat, positive music and hybrid genres. They receive accolades for their interesting arrangements and catchy thematic riffs, using real instruments, and providing a quick turnaround.
Since 2005, the Marinos have written and produced more than 3,000 songs and instrumentals, and their music is heard daily around the world. They've had placements in feature films, documentaries, TV shows, video games, and commercials nationwide including Clorox, Cabela's, Bass Pro Shops, L.L. Bean, etc.
Tracey Marino is originally from Boston, Massachusetts, and lived in Houston, Texas, where, at a young age, she developed a deep appreciation for folk and country music and could play just about anything by ear. She is also a singer and studied jazz and classical piano at Palomar College and San Diego State University. Tracey plays various keyboards, electric and pipe organ, calliope, percussion, and other instruments.
Vance Marino is originally from Oahu, Hawai'i, and lived in Phoenix, Arizona, where he toured with a country band. He sings and plays all types of guitar (acoustic, electric, classical), ukulele, mandolin, many stringed instruments, bass, drums, and sings. While a student at Kamehameha School and Leeward College, he studied music theory, producing, and arranging. Vance enjoys teaching songwriting, and many of his star students are working in the music business.
In 2022, the Marinos' book about getting sync, "Hey! That's My Song! A Guide to Getting Music Placements in Film, TV, and Media," was published by major publisher Rowman & Littlefield/Backbeat Books. The Marinos are frequent guest speakers and panelists for music education classes and songwriter organizations in Los Angeles, Nashville, and San Diego. They have done online presentations from New York City to South Africa.
