- Producer
Richa Moorjani, actor, producer and activist, was born and raised in the Bay Area, California. She made her series lead debut in Mindy Kaling's hit series, "Never Have I Ever" which hit #1 around the world in the Netflix Top 10 category immediately after its premiere in 2020. Being cast out of a pool of somewhere between 15,000 actors from an open global casting call for the 3 South Asian female leads of the series, Richa won the hearts of an international and multi-generational audience with her portrayal of the brilliant, bold, and stereotype-subverting 'Kamala'. Richa's talents and versatility as a first generation Indian American artist have allowed her to play a diverse range of both comedic and dramatic characters with depth and nuance - such as her role as Officer Indira Olmstead in the 5th Season of "Fargo," which received critical acclaim including 15 Emmy nominations. AV Club described her work on Fargo as "an absolute tour de force performance from Richa Moorjani from beginning to end" (Tom Philip, 2023, December 20th, Fargo recap: Richa Moorjani steals the show.) Richa's ability to bring complex female characters to life along with her unwavering dedication to authentic representation in her projects have earned her praise from both fans and critics alike, solidifying her status as a rising star in the industry.
Raised in a family of academics and artists, Richa broke away from the expected career trajectory of an Indian-American girl growing up in the Silicon Valley and developed a passion for storytelling as a child, before studying Dramatic Arts at university. Richa is a professionally trained dancer (Indian Classical, Kathak, Hip-Hop, Jazz, Bollywood) and an outspoken champion for diverse and inclusive narratives that push boundaries and challenge societal norms. With her commitment to choosing projects that shift the needle for representation, Richa is not only making a mark in Hollywood but also paving the way for greater diversity and inclusion in the entertainment industry. Her passion for activism extends far beyond her on-screen work and she has been praised for her fierce advocacy for the environment, human rights, animal welfare and mental health. In Hollywood, Richa tirelessly advocates for eco-conscious storytelling practices that not only entertain but also educate and inspire audiences to take action towards a more sustainable future.
Named by Goldhouse as one of the top 100 Asian Americans who have had the most impact on culture and society, Richa strives to leverage her platform to amplify the voices of marginalized communities, to inspire individual and collective action- and ultimately to create a world where compassion, equity, and the health of our planet are at the forefront of our collective consciousness.
