Daniel Rocha is a Brazilian actor and musician (violinist).
Daniel Rocha began his studies in performing arts in 2007, aged 17, at the renowned CPT (Center for Theatre Research), one of the most important training centers in Latin America, directed by Antunes Filho, one of the greatest theater directors in history.
He graduated in 2011, and his first job on television was on TV Globo, in the acclaimed soap opera "Brazil Avenue" (2012), created by João Emanuel Carneiro ("Central Station"), winner of the International Emmy for Best Soap Opera. Daniel, in the main cast, played Roni.
On TV Globo, he became one of the biggest highlights of Brazilian TV, playing João Lucas, one of the main characters in the soap opera "Empire" (2014), created by Aguinaldo Silva, which also won the International Emmy for Best Soap Opera.
At Globo, he brings iconic characters to life in the new heyday of Brazilian telenovelas. Plays Rogério Machado in "Trail of Lies" (2013), Rafael Guerra in the Emmy International nominated soap opera, "Total Dreamer" (2015), Gustavo Ribeiro in "Wounded Past" (2016) and Marcos in the series "Forbidden City" (2017).
The soap operas were shown in more than 100 countries by Globo International.
He then paused his career in telenovelas, in search of more challenging jobs and characters. He auditioned with 800 other actors, eventually landing the role, for the part of legendary boxer Acelino "Popó" Freitas in the series "Irmãos Freitas", directed by Oscar nominated director Walter Salles, and the international award winners, Sérgio Machado and Aly Muritiba. The series was shown in 2019 by Warner Turner, Amazon and HBO.
In an innovative career, he was in the cast of 7 soap operas, and in cinema, he played intriguing characters in 6 films, among them: O Japonês, in "Express Kidnapping" (2018), directed by Tatá Amaral; Léo, in "Eu Sou Brasileiro" (2019) (which he also produced); Mario in "There's Something About Mario"; Beto, in "The Fall" (2022) and Gabriel in "The Smoke Master" (2022) (which he also produced), the latter, winner of the Audience Award at the São Paulo International Film Festival, and at various festivals around the world.
In 2022, he played Bento, in "The Forgotten Valley", the biggest television series ever produced by HBO and O2 Films in Latin America. The show remains in the most watched rankings (in LATAM).
Daniel is filming new shows for streaming, such as "Desejos S.A." (Disney ), shown at Cannes 2023, and an unprecedented series for Netflix Brazil. He is the producer of two projects, where he will debut as a writer, in two feature films.
Owner of a multifaceted career, in cinema, television and theater, Daniel Rocha has multiple skills. He has been playing the violin since he was 6 years old, is a boxer, kickboxer, and jiu-jitsu practitioner, and is in a select group of Brazilian actors who are specialists in the Stella Adler Method.
