After obtaining a degree in film making from the "Cape Town Film and Television school" Chris works in a variety of disciplines including feature films,documentaries and commercials but cuts his teeth as a DP on TV Dramas.He acquires a Steadicam,and trains himself in order to add production value to the projects he is involved in. Chris also shoots "art" movies for Nicolas Boone.A visual artist from Paris who introduces him to his hybrid style of film making.(Hillbrow 2014) Doing everything in long takes with no cuts (Psaume 2015) and using people off the street as cast. Nicolas's style wavers between the dramatic and "verite" but always remains cinematic.
In November 2015 he shoots his first full length feature film as the director of photography "Johnny is nie dood nie" A film entirely shot on Steadicam/handheld where every scene is one shot.Follows up with two more South African features "Kanarie" which won numerous festival accolades as well as "Die Seemeeu" all incorporating extended one shot Steadicam takes. Becomes a member of the SASC. Works on international TV series "Madiba" with Laurence Fishburn and "The India detective" as A/cam and Steadicam operator. Worked with James Laxton (director of photography on Moonlight) on the Guinness "Made of more" campaign in Africa. Currently operating cameras and Steadicam on international features and series shooting content in South Africa Chris resides in Cape Town ,South Africa
