Amazon’s head of Pan-English scripted originals Rola Bauer is exiting her role at the tech giant.
Bauer, who was elevated to the position in 2022 as part of a restructuring following Amazon’s $8.5 billion acquisition of MGM, previously served as MGM’s president of international TV.
An individual familiar with the matter tells TheWrap that the decision was made by Bauer, who is looking to “return to her entrepreneurial roots” and pursue options outside the company. The separation was a mutual decision with Amazon and her official date of leave remains to be determined.
During her tenure over the past two years, the Pan-English division has produced six projects, including “Harlan Coben’s Lazarus” starring Sam Claflin and Bill Nighy, “Haven” with Sophie Turner, “Quarter Life” with Riz Ahmed and “The Girlfriend” with Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke.

International TV veteran Rola Bauer is stepping down from her role as Amazon MGM Studios’ head of English-language global original series produced outside the U.S.
The parting is amicable and instigated by Bauer. The seasoned producer and creative executive joined MGM in 2020 as president of international TV production. The scope of her role changed after Amazon’s 2022 acquisition of MGM to focus on a specific type of content that Amazon MGM Studios dubbed Pan-English global originals — projects produced in English but outside the U.S. The team put an emphasis on glossy event series that can travel well across territories and cultures.
As Amazon and MGM fine-tune the company’s hierarchy and strategy, Bauer decided it was a good time to return to producing and entrepreneurial content packaging and development efforts. Bauer’s executive team will be absorbed into the larger Amazon Studios structure. Bauer will help steer the...

Bauer was President of International Television Productions at MGM when, in May 2021, Amazon bought the studio in an $8.5 billion deal. Veteran international TV executive and producer Rola Bauer is leaving Amazon MGM Studios where she served as Head of Pan-English scripted originals for the past two years.
This was a role carved out for Bauer in the November 2022 consolidation of Amazon Studios and MGM following Amazon’s acquisition of the venerable Hollywood studio. The long-time Studiocanal executive had originally joined MGM in 2020 in a broader role, as President, International Television Productions.
Under Bauer, the Pan-English division of Amazon MGM Studios has generated six upcoming Prime Video series, including Harlan Coben’s Lazarus starring Sam Claflin and Bill Nighy, — Bauer’s fourth career Coben series — Haven with Sophie Turner, Quarter Life with Riz Ahmed and The Girlfriend with Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke.

Stevie Nicks wasn’t clamoring to watch Prime Video’s Daisy Jones & the Six, but after having viewed — and liked — the show (adapted from Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel and loosely based on her romance with fellow Fleetwood Mac bandmate Lindsey Buckingham), she has some ideas of her own to contribute for Season 2.
“I didn’t even want to see it, because I thought I was going to hate it so much,” the Grammy winner told Rolling Stone in a recent interview. “I had Covid when I saw it. I was in my condo in Los Angeles, and I can remember saying, ‘Am I just watching my life go by?'”
She continued, “Riley [Keough] doesn’t look like me. She’s much snappier than me. I couldn’t be as snappy as her in Fleetwood Mac. Christine [McVie] and I couldn’t do that, because we were the peacemakers. [Keough] could...

Last year, the Prime Video streaming service released the ten episode series Daisy Jones & The Six (watch it Here), based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid – a novel that was partially inspired by the complicated issues Fleetwood Mac band members Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham, and Stevie Nicks dealt with behind the scenes. It isn’t directly the Fleetwood Mac story, but comparisons are unavoidable… and Steve Nicks soon let it be known that she loved the show and had watched its full run multiple times. She said, “It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story. It was very emotional for me,” and she joined many fans in hoping that there would be a second season. Since Daisy Jones & The Six covered the full story of Reid’s novel and was categorized as a limited series,...

Stevie Nicks has an idea for a second season of Daisy Jones & The Six.
In an in-depth interview with Rolling Stone published Thursday, the music icon reflected on the ending of the Prime series in which Sam Claflin’s Billy Dunne reunites with Riley Keough’s Daisy after encouragement from his wife to give his former bandmate a call after she passes away.
Though the series’ ending was left for the audience to debate on what truly happens and offered a feeling of possibility, Nicks ponders what could be if the show should ever have another season.
“I wish that it could go into what if … had Billy come back after Billy’s wife died and knocked on her door, and they decided to make that last record that I always hoped that Lindsey and I would make. That would make a fantastic second season,” Nicks said.

A veteran producer of international co-productions and high-end drama series — see the Emmy-nominated The Pillars of the Earth with Matthew Macfadyen and Eddie Redmayne or the pan-European crime series Crossing Lines with the late, great Donald Sutherland — Bauer has been building up Amazon’s slate of international English-language originals since 2022.
Her upcoming slate includes the heist thriller Haven, starring Sophie Turner, Jacob Fortune Lloyd and Archie Madekwe; the family drama The Girlfriend with Robin Wright and Olivia Cooke; and the thriller Lazarus, a psychological mystery from Harlan Coben and Danny Brocklehurst that follows a forensic pathologist, played by Sam Claflin, who becomes entangled in a series of cold-case murders as he grapples with the mystery of his father’s death (played by Bill Nighy) and the murder of his sister (Utopia‘s Alexandra Roach) 25 years ago. On the lighter side, Bauer’s division has also greenlit a new comedy series by and starring Riz Ahmed.

Two years ago, it was announced that Sam Claflin, who may be best known for playing Oswald Mosley on Peaky Blinders, Finnick Odair in the Hunger Games franchise, and Billy Dunne in Daisy Jones & the Six, had signed on to star in the supernatural thriller Bagman, from Hunger Games‘ home studio Lionsgate. The finished film received a theatrical release at the end of September, but it seems that few movie-goers noticed. Maybe Bagman will catch more attention now that horror fans will have the chance to watch it in their comfort of their own homes, as the film is set to receive a digital and VOD release this Friday, October 18th. It’s available for pre-order on Amazon, going for the price of $14.99.

This article contains spoilers for "Agatha All Along" season 1, episode 4 — "If I Can't Reach You Let My Song Teach You."
In the series premiere of Disney and Marvel's latest project "Agatha All Along," Kathryn Hahn turns in a pitch-perfect performance as Detective Agnes O'Connor, with the entire episode mimicking the HBO hit "Mare of Easttown" before the "TV magic" is stripped away to reveal that Agnes is actually Agatha, a now-powerless witch. In the third episode, the show offers up its own take on another HBO favorite, "Big Little Lies." So, what popular series does the fourth episode, titled "If I Can't Reach You Let My Song Teach You," reference? That would be "Daisy Jones & the Six," a huge Amazon Prime Video original based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid.
How and why does the show manage to pull off an homage to "Daisy Jones?" It's all...

Exclusive: Guy Ritchie’s Young Sherlock series has cast the title character’s older brother. Max Irons (Condor) is set as a series regular on the Prime Video show, playing Mycroft Holmes opposite Hero Fiennes Tiffin’s Sherlock. Speculation about Irons’ casting started last month when he was snapped on the set of the series; his character had not been revealed until now.
Inspired by Andy Lane’s book series, Young Sherlock is described as an irreverent, action-packed origin story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s beloved detective in a re-imagining of this iconic character. At age 19, Sherlock Holmes (Fiennes Tiffin) is disgraced, raw, unfiltered, and unformed, when he finds himself caught up in a murder mystery at Oxford University which threatens his freedom. Diving into his first-ever case with a wild lack of discipline, Sherlock manages to unravel a globe-trotting conspiracy that will change his life forever.

Landlubbers, ye be warned, there be spoilers for the "Pirates of the Caribbean" movies ahead.
Although the original "Pirates of the Caribbean" film, "The Curse of the Black Pearl," released in 2003, is still widely beloved and properly appreciated, the rest of the franchise gets a bad rap. The consensus is that director Gore Verbinski made one good movie, but everything after that was a bad case of diminishing returns.
It's a shame, because some of those sequels are pretty great. In fact, one of them is even better than the original, if you can believe it. Making the first three "Pirates" films age even better is their absurdly strong CGI, which is impressive even by today's standards, and their willingness to get weird and creative in a way that so many modern franchises refuse to do. It's fun to watch a big blockbuster film that takes itself seriously and isn't...

Crossovers between different franchises and universes have always been an irresistible idea for fans, based on how the unique blend of familiar worlds and characters often ignites excitement and nostalgia. One such enchanting crossover happened when Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke joined the cast of the 2016 romantic comedy Me Before You, alongside a Harry Potter star.

Appearing as a young caregiver named Louisa, Emilia Clarke’s Game of Thrones fame met Matthew Lewis’ Harry Potter stardom on the set of Thea Sharrock’s film adaptation of Jojo Moyes’ novel. Now, while the blending of these iconic franchises provided an irresistible thrill for fans, Lewis apparently struggled with Clarke’s larger-than-life status as the Mother of Dragons.

However, for reasons unknown, Ritchson took the role as unseriously as ever, thinking it wouldn’t involve acting, and ended up losing out on the major role.

HBO's critically acclaimed fantasy series Game of Thrones achieved record viewership for the network and has garnered a vast fanbase worldwide. The series aired from 2011 to 2019 across eight seasons, and during that time, the series and ensemble cast were nominated for numerous awards. Most impressively, the series was nominated for 164 Primetime Emmys, winning 59. This series has propelled many of its cast members into the limelight, but who is the most successful?

You've heard of Candyman. You've heard of Batman. You've heard of Bicentennial Man. But did you ever hear of Bagman? A child-snatching nightmare figure from Latin American, Eastern European, Asian, and African folklore, the Bagman — or Sack Man, as he's sometimes known — is a Pennywise-like force of evil who takes innocent kids and stuffs them, well, in his bag. And he's the central figure looming over The Girl With All The Gifts director Colm McCarthy and writer John Hulme's aptly titled folk chiller Bagman, which is set to see Sam Claflin, Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor), and Aftersun breakout star Frankie Corio among others come face to face with the eldritch terror. Watch the creepy first trailer below:
Dutch angles. Dark caves. Flickering lights. Rusty scissors. Creepy creaking sounds. Creepier dolls. Yup — consider us spooked! Now yes, this new trailer does play many of the folk-inflected horror hits, and yes,...

Boogiemen come in all shapes and sizes. They hide beneath your bed, lurk in shadows, and patiently wait to devour you from the depths of your closet. Children try to avoid them at all costs, but now and then, one is so determined to sink its pointed teeth into your tasty meats that it’ll ignore every ward and warning to claim its prize. Today’s Bagman trailer features a sinister ghoul who snatches children and stuffs them into a haunted bag, like Krampus’s kleptomaniac cousin.
Here’s the official synopsis for Bagman courtesy of Lionsgate:

How difficult is it to write a convincing hit record for a film or TV show? Just take one look at the Harry Connick Jr rom-com Find Me Falling, streaming on Netflix…
There are all kinds of elements that, even in the best-written or best-directed films or TV shows, can pull the viewer out of the moment: it might be an off-key performance, an unconvincing prop or a special effect that doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. One thing that can be particularly difficult for filmmakers to get right, though, is to write a song that, in the movie or show’s fictional world at least, is a much-loved, multi-platinum hit.
This brings us to Find Me Falling, a romantic comedy by writer-director Stelana Kliris that appeared on Netflix on the 19th July. The premise is quite a good one: Harry Connick Jr plays John Allman, a creatively exhausted, middle-aged...

What happens when you bring Bayhem to the box? It looks like we might be about to find out, folks. According to Deadline, the Bad Boys and Ambulance blockbuster filmmaker is circling the directorial hotseat on Barbaric, a new Netflix series based on Michael Moreci and Nathan Gooden's best-selling Vault comic series. What's more, Peaky Blinders star Sam Claflin and Picard himself, Sir Patrick Stewart, are attached to star in the show.
Up In The Air scribe Sheldon Turner is aboard to write the series, tantalisingly described by Deadline as "Deadpool meets Game Of Thrones" thanks to its killer combo of ultra violence and wicked humour. Set in a Medieval fantasy world, Moreci and Gooden's comics follow the adventures of cursed Barbarian Owen and his sentient alcoholic weapon Axe as they wander their magical realm, impelled to help the needy (usually in the most bloodthirsty way possible). Calling all Baytriots! Bro King and director Michael Bay may finally be turning his gaze from the big screen to the small screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bay is in talks to direct "an acerbic fantasy series" entitled "Barbaric" for Netflix, which is based on the Vault Comics series of the same name.
"Barbaric" is due to star Sam Claflin (from "The Hunger Games" and most recently "Daisy Jones and the Six") and Patrick Stewart (Professor X and Captain Picard himself), with Sheldon Turner of "X-Men: First Class" and "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning" acting as writer and executive producer of the series.
That last credit, of course, is how Turner met Bay in the latter's capacity as producer and founder of the Platinum Dunes production company, which began in 2003 with the company's remake of the original "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre." While Platinum Dunes has overseen several television projects before,...

After nearly three decades of making movies, Michael Bay will get into the TV business; or at least the Netflix business. THR reports that the director is in talks to helm the streamer’s adaptation of “Barbaric,” based on the best-selling Vault Comics series of the same name. A TV show about a barbarian and his talking demonic axe as they seek redemption sounds like quite the departure for the guy who made “Bad Boys,” “Transformers,” and “Ambulance,” but maybe Bay’s hefty camera movements suit this show’s purpose.

Patrick Stewart is busy sharpening his axe while Sam Claflin practices his war cries for an adaptation of the Vault comic series Barbaric. The series adaptation is preparing to engage in battle on Netflix with Michael Bay as the project’s director. In addition to his starring role, Claflin is an executive producer of the bloodthirsty series from A E Studios and Sheldon Turner & Jennifer Klein’s studio-based 100% Productions.
Sheldon Turner is writing Barbaric, which Deadline says is a mashup of Deadpool meets Game of Thrones with over-the-top violence, limb-chopping action, and biting humor. Michael Moreci writes Barbaric with art by Nathan Gooden.
Here’s the official synopsis for Barbaric Vol. 1 from Vault:
Owen the Barbarian has been cursed to do good with what remains of his life. His bloodthirsty weapon, Axe, has become his moral compass with a drinking problem. Together, they wander the realm, foredoomed to help any who seek assistance.

There are plenty of things that could ruin a beautiful Nantucket wedding weekend. A dead body washing up on the shore? That probably tops the list.
Based on the book by Elin Hilderbrand, the six-episode Netflix limited series The Perfect Couple (which releases Thursday, Sept. 5) follows Amelia Sacks (Bad Sisters’ Eve Hewson), a woman who’s about to marry into one of the wealthiest families on Nantucket. “Her disapproving future mother-in-law, famous novelist Greer Garrison Winbury (Nicole Kidman), has spared no expense in planning what promises to be the premiere wedding of the season — until a body turns up on the beach,...

Edgar Allan Poe's C. Auguste Dupin in 1841's "The Murders in the Rue Morgue" is the first fictional detective to appear in literature, but Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes is hands down the most well-known detective in all of pop culture.
Identifying himself as a "consulting" detective, Sherlock Holmes is intelligent beyond all reason, analytical to a fault, and emotionally distant due to his obsessions with logic. But when he's hot on the case in an investigation, his flair for the dramatics kicks in and he lives to show off his findings. Not because he wants to be the center of attention, but because he must let everyone know just how brilliant he is for cracking the case. He's also a morally questionable individual, who has no problems lying to law enforcement or committing petty crimes of his own if it means getting one step closer to solving the mystery.

Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur made a handful of smaller films before bursting into mainstream Hollywood with the Mark Wahlberg action flick "Contraband" in 2012. He's stayed steadily busy ever since, cranking out the Denzel Washington/Mark Wahlberg actioner "2 Guns" in 2013, the ensemble mountain climbing thriller "Everest" in 2015, the Shailene Woodley/Sam Claflin survival movie "Adrift" in 2018, and the "Idris Elba fights a lion" movie "Beast" in 2022, plus directing a couple of television shows in between. As those credits indicate, Kormákur is primarily known to American audiences for his high-octane filmmaking style. His latest project, however, marks a significant change of pace.
"Touch," written by Kormákur and Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson (based on a novel by Ólafsson), tells the story of Kristófer, an elderly Icelander whose wife has passed away. Spurred on by some health issues of his own and sense that he's running out of time, Kristófer sets out to find a woman named Miko,...

Despite a cast that includes “The Office” co-creator Stephan Merchant, potential new Bond Claes Bang, and national treasure Christopher Walken, crime comedy “The Outlaws” has largely flown under the radar since debuting on Amazon in 2022. But now “Baby Reindeer” has alerted the rest of the world to the talents of Jessica Gunning, its third season, premiering May 31, should both attract a deservedly bigger audience and continue its regular scene-stealer’s meteoric rise.
The continuation of the saga involving seven petty criminals who become embroiled in a dangerous drug money-laundering scheme while undergoing community service was filmed prior to Martha Scott, and the memeable real-life Scotswoman she was apparently based upon, dominating the cultural discourse. Yet in a timely development, Gunning’s supervisor Diane Pemberley is given much more prominence, and indeed more layers, this time around.
She’s still as ridiculously bureaucratic as ever, with the addition of Stan (Harry Trevaldwyn...
