The stage is set in Art of Eight Limbs for a fight fans dream come true. We’re introduced to Scott Schiff, a skilled CIA analyst who also happens to be a talented kickboxer. But Scott soon finds himself tapped for an undercover mission unlike any other.
It seems some stolen nerve gas has made its way to Myanmar, into the hands of a sinister general with ties to the country’s fighting circuits. To obtain proof, Scott must infiltrate an upcoming Muay Thai tournament – presenting the perfect cover for a dangerous arms deal.
With secret agents and Mma action promised, it’s a blend that sounds too good to be true. And as ananalyst myself, it’s my duty to carefully examine every element. How well does this story deliver on its high-octane premise? Is Scott up to the task as our hero?
And most importantly, are the fights...

Nowadays, it’s hard to imagine anyone other than Michael Keaton playing Batman in the original Tim Burton movie, but at the time, Keaton was considered a risky choice. Burton naturally looked at other actors to star in Batman, and that included Terminator star Michael Biehn, who said that he came close to snagging the role.
“I went in and met Tim Burton over at Warner Bros, and back in those days, they were just meetings, they weren’t auditions. I would just go in and meet,” Biehn said in a recent episode of the Just Foolin’ About with Michael Biehn podcast. “But I was very good at telling people how good I was going to be at this role, how I was going to play it, I was going to do this, I was going to do that, sometimes some of the dialogue would slip in, I’ve done that many many times.

No, Art of Eight Limbs isn’t about an octopus that can paint portraits. It’s the latest knockoff of Enter the Dragon, a film that came out fifty-one years ago and still hasn’t been equalled despite a near-endless stream of films utilizing its mix of international espionage, crime, and martial arts tournaments.

Tiger Style Media is partnering with Paramount‘s Republic Pictures for old-school-style martial arts double feature releases. The first two of the four films released this month are Art of Eight Limbs and The Lockdown. Art of Eight Limbs stars Ludi Lin, who plays Liu Kang in 2021’s Mortal Kombat and the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2. The trailer will likely give viewers some déjà vu as the plot of infiltrating a martial arts tournament led by a criminal comes straight from Bruce Lee’s famous film Enter the Dragon. However, mix it in with some Muay Thai action and it’s a cocktail for some martial arts mayhem.
The official synopsis reads,
“In this action-packed thriller from a producer of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Ludi Lin stars as a CIA data analyst and part-time kickboxer. Sent on a mission to Myanmar, he must infiltrate a martial arts tournament...

"We look forward to seeing you fight." Republic Pictures via Paramount has unveiled the official trailer for Art of Eight Limbs - the title is just another term for Muay Thai Boxing. The martial arts action movie is playing in select theaters now before it's on VOD later this month. A small release that we've barely heard about. Four canisters of deadly Vx nerve gas have fallen into the hands of an arms dealer in Myanmar. A CIA data analyst goes undercover to infiltrate a martial arts tournament that masks an auction of the deadly nerve gas, where he finds himself as the last hope against a time-ticking global threat. Can he pull off a win and save the world? Chinese-Canadian actor Ludi Lin (who played Liu Kang in the recent 2021 Mortal Kombat movie) stars as the CIA analyst. The cast includes Thai actors Sahajak Boonthanakit & Vithaya Pansringarm, both were...

Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid is back at the helm for the sequel Mortal Kombat 2, and while the video game adaptation wrapped production back in January after a bumpy ride through the year of the strikes, it sounds like they’re doing some reshoots at the moment. Ludi Lin reprises the role of Liu Kang in the new film, and while doing the press rounds for the martial arts movie Art of Eight Limbs, where he co-stars with former TV Spider-Man Nicholas Hammond, Lin took a moment to hype Mortal Kombat 2 to the folks at Screen Rant, saying the sequel is bigger and better than its predecessor, and that Karl Urban’s performance as popular video game character Johnny Cage will “blow your socks off.”
The screenplay for Mortal Kombat 2 has been written by Jeremy Slater, who was the lead writer on the Marvel / Disney series Moon Knight.

Fans of the beloved Mortal Kombat video game franchise have much to anticipate for the upcoming sequel, according to star Ludi Lin. In a recent interview, the actor who reprises his role as Liu Kang teased an even more expansive film that will feature a breakout performance from Karl Urban as Johnny Cage.
Lin spoke glowingly of the ambitious production currently filming in Australia, revealing a significantly larger scale with “everything…bigger.” He also praised Urban’s dedication, stating the actor “is going to blow your socks off” in the pivotal role of Johnny Cage. We're still waiting (and probably will be for a while longer) on a first look at some footage from Warner Bros./New Line's Mortal Kombat 2, but producer and co-creator of the iconic video game series, Ed Boon, has now taken to social media to share a teasing glimpse of one of the new characters who'll be debuting in the sequel, Kitana.
Her face is kept hidden, but we do get a look at the fan-favorite fighter's signature weapon and costume. Kitana will be played by Chilling Adventures of Sabrina actress Adeline Rudolph.
The Netflix series marked Rudolph's screen debut, but the Hong Kong-born model-turned-actress has also appeared in the CW’s Riverdale and Netflix’s Resident Evil series. She is also set to play the female lead in Millennium’s Hellboy: The Crooked Man.
Boon also revealed that he has seen an unfinished cut of the movie.

Simon McQuoid’s 2021 feature directorial debut with the martial arts fantasy film Mortal Kombat has certainly created a splash among fans but it was far from having an impressive box office gross. Still, New Line Cinema alongside Atomic Monster and Broken Road Productions is bringing a sequel to the first movie with Warner Brothers distributing the movie.
Sisi Stringer as Mileena in Mortal Kombat
Mortal Kombat 2 hype is quite promising as the movie will bring back the essence of the action-adventure fighting video game series, Mortal Kombat. However, fans have one subtle demand for the studio asking the makers not to repeat one critical mistake in the sequel of the action movie.
Mortal Kombat 2 Will Be “Way Bigger” Hiroyuki Sanada in Mortal Kombat
The preparation of the movie following the announcement has been long, perhaps, this time Warner Brothers are expecting more appealing sequences embedded into the narrative.

The high-profile movie will fly into cinemas on June 26, 2026, DC and Warner Bros. announced Tuesday. Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid is back at the helm for the sequel Mortal Kombat 2, which recently wrapped production after a bumpy ride through the year of the strikes. This film will be bringing popular video game character Johnny Cage to the screen, with Karl Urban of Dredd, Star Trek, and The Boys taking on the role. Despite Urban’s established awesomeness, he was an unexpected choice for Johnny Cage, and there are some fans who have let it be known that they would have chosen someone else to play the part. Karl Urban marked the end of filming on Simon McQuoid‘s upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 on his Instagram, calling it “the most action packed fun I’ve ever had” on a film. Urban, who plays Johnny Cage in the follow-up to the 2021 film, also took the opportunity to show himself sans beard, which he’ll no doubt be growing back for The Boys, which will be returning for Season 4 later this year.
We’ve not seen a picture yet of Urban as everyone’s favourite action movie star, though MK2 producer Todd Garner had given us a peek of what to expect a few weeks back. It’s been two years since the release of the live action Mortal Kombat reboot, and a sequel is on the way soon. Filming on Mortal Kombat 2 actually kicked off earlier this summer, you may recall, but it didn’t last long due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes going on at the time. He writes in a follow-up tweet, “I promise I will keep the Mk Kommunity posted as soon as I have info on start date, etc. Everyone else is just speculating… or posting for clicks.”

The release of Mortal Kombat 1 is just around the corner, and it was confirmed today that Megan Fox has lent her voice to Nitara. The vampire comes from the realm of Vaeternus and joins the fight to protect her race. You can check out a gruesome gameplay video of Nitara in action below, which also features Megan Fox talking about joining the Mortal Kombat franchise.
“She comes from this weird realm, she is a type of vampire creature,” Megan Fox said in the video. “She’s evil but she’s also good. She’s trying to save her people. I really like her. She’s a vampire which obviously resonates for whatever reason. It’s cool to be in the game, you know? Because I’m not really just voicing it, it’ll be like she’s kind of me.“

A couple weeks ago, Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid rounded out the cast of the sequel – which is apparently simply titled Mortal Kombat II. Last weekend, we saw a picture of several cast members in a restaurant together. And now Ludi Lin (who plays Liu Kang in these new films) took to Instagram to reveal that filming has officially started! He shared pictures of a clapperboard and his salad, and those can be seen at the bottom of this article.
The screenplay for Mortal Kombat II has been written by Jeremy Slater, who was the lead writer on the Marvel / Disney series Moon Knight. Last year, Slater said that working on the project had been “really fun so far. … I’m working really closely with the director and the studios, and the game guys, and I think—I can’t say anything about the actual story, but I think they...

Producer James Wan revealed last night on Ig that filming is officially underway on Mortal Kombat 2, which has Simon McQuoid returning to the director’s seat from a screenplay by Jeremy Slater (“The Exorcist,” “Moon Knight”).
Martyn Ford (“The Sandman”), Desmond Chiam (“The Falcon and the Winter Soldier”), Ana Thu Nguyen (Suka) and Damon Herriman (House of Wax, The Nightingale) signed on a few weeks ago to play Shao Kahn, Edenian King Jerrod, Queen Sindel, and Netherrealm demon Quan Chi respectively.
It’s interesting to note that Herriman previously voiced the role of Kabal in the 2021 film.
Newcomers to the sequel also include Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Tati Gabrielle as Jade and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana.
Plot details remain scarce for the sequel, though the new cast additions continue to signal a bigger, bloodier affair packed with fatalities.

Mortal Kombat 2 recently started filming in Australia and producer Todd Garner shared a photo of the cast enjoying a meal. If you take a look at the photo, you’ll see Karl Urban sporting some frosted tips and a more clean-shaven face to play Johnny Cage.

Johnny Cage is an action movie star and martial artist who first appeared in the original Mortal Kombat game released in 1992. The character didn’t appear in the recent Mortal Kombat movie, but a post-credit scene teased that he would be on his way. It was announced earlier this year that Karl Urban was in talks to play Johnny Cage. I’m excited to see the actor in costume for the first time, but I have no doubt that he’s going to knock the role out of the park.

Mortal Kombat director Simon McQuoid is returning to the helm for the sequel that we’ll refer to as Mortal Kombat 2 until someone tells us otherwise. Filming on this follow-up is expected to begin soon (unless the writers strike causes a delay), and over the last month and a half McQuoid has been steadily building up his cast. The Boys star Karl Urban has been cast to play Johnny Cage; Adeline Rudolph (Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) is set to play Princess Kitana; and Tati Gabrielle (You) is taking on the role of Jade, the friend and bodyguard of Princess Kitana. Now Deadline reports that four more actors have joined the cast, filling the roles of Outworld emperor Shao Kahn, Kahn’s wife Queen Sindel, Netherrealm demon Quan Chi, and Jerrod, who was the King of Edenia (and married to Sindel) until Edenia’s warriors lost in the Mortal Kombat tournament.

With “Black Mirror” preparing to drop its sixth season on June 15, there’s no time like the present to revisit 15 minutes in the future. Created by Charlie Brooker in 2011, “Black Mirror” uses each of its standalone episodes to craft a (typically) cautionary tale focusing on the intersection of human nature and technology. Some episodes are set in the far-flung future, some in an alternate present, but most tend to sit right at the edges of where we are right now, pushing current ideas, trends, and innovations just a little bit further to create oft-disconcerting tales of where they may lead.
Because each “Black Mirror” episode is intended to function as its own self-contained story, viewers can watch them in any order they please, and even skip episodes entirely if they’d prefer without missing any information that is relevant for the others. Of course, any serious “Black Mirror” viewer will...

“Mortal Kombat 2” will follow the example of its 2021 hit predecessor and film in Australia. But production will relocate to Gold Coast, Queensland, from Adelaide in South Australia.
The New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures title is based on the iconic video game by Ed Boon and John Tobias. Filming will begin at Village Roadshow Studios from June.
“Mortal Kombat 2” is written by Jeremy Slater and will again be directed by Australian Simon McQuoid. The film will be produced by James Wan’s Atomic Monster and Todd Garner’s Broken Road Productions.
The production was lured by the Queensland Government via Screen Queensland’s Production Attraction Strategy. It will also be eligible for the Australian federal government’s recently-revised offset scheme.
“With an estimated local spend of more than $68 million, Mortal Kombat 2 is a heavy hitter for the state’s economy, creating at least 560 jobs for Queensland cast and crew,...

A sequel to the Mortal Kombat movie from 2021 is on the way, and The Wrap reports tonight that Karl Urban (“The Boys”) is in final talks to join the cast as Johnny Cage.
The Wrap reminds, “Johnny Cage was introduced in the first Mortal Kombat arcade game in 1992. Johnny Cage is depicted as an action movie star with an extensive martial arts background. He is often characterized as a swashbuckling, Hollywood fighting movie star who places great importance on his image and consistently behaves in a cool manner.”
The star of Amazon’s hit series “The Boys,” Karl Urban turns 50 years old next month, so this particular take on the classic Mortal Kombat character is sure to be different than expected. Many fans had been lobbying for WWE superstar The Miz to play Cage in the upcoming sequel, but Urban’s casting will bring a whole new facet to the character.

(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)
"Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" first hit the airwaves in 1993, and even though that original iteration of Rangers didn't last all that long, the series has remained remarkably enduring. 30 years later, the series has aired nearly 1,000 episodes through its various iterations, has inspired hundreds of issues of comics books, millions in toy sales, and is truly a globally recognized brand with huge staying power. Still, the franchise has never managed to fully crack the code in making the jump to movies.
Two films, the "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" movie in 1995 and "Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie," did fine enough by '90s "kids movies based on a show" standards, which were ultimately more about selling toys and copies of the films on VHS.
