Susan Tolar Walters

Susan found her love of acting at the age of 9 in her first stage performance of "Happy Birthday Wanda June". After performing in over a dozen theatre productions before college, Susan landed her first professional role at the age of 17 in the musical theater production of A Little Night Music in East Carolina University Summer Professional Theatre series. Over the years she appeared in over 70 theatrical shows. Susan graduated from East Carolina University with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in Acting and a minor in Dance. Upon graduation, She moved to Los Angeles to pursue post-graduate study in film acting. While assisting her Los Angeles Talent manager, in exchange for acting classes at the famous Improv on Melrose, Susan learned the process of managing talent and submitting actors for projects as well as started teaching the new actors signed to her manager. However, a few short years later she put her acting and teaching career on the back burner while having children of her own. She soon realized, with children, she could not stay away from her close family in the South and moved back to North Carolina where, in 1993, she opened The Actors Workshop in downtown Wilmington NC. After 10 years of teaching in Wilmington, a family illness took her to Fayetteville, NC where she opened The Highland Performing Arts Center in 2003. There, Susan taught hundreds of students film acting, audition technique, commercials, scene study, and musical theatre. She also directed 13 plays in a short 5 year span. During the summer of 2008, Susan moved back to one of her favorite places on earth, Wilmington, NC. With encouragement from local casting agents to become a talent agent, she opened STW Talent Agency in January 2009. As the industry started to move to Atlanta, GA, Susan decided to make the move as well. STW moved their Main office to Atlanta GA in 2014. With success now reaching into the Northern markets, STW decided to opened an office in Brooklyn, NY in 2019 and has it has been a great addition, even with a pandemic. Now with offices in Atlanta, GA, Wilmington, NC and Brooklyn, NY, she is able to cover the entire East Coast. Susan prides herself in being a quality, SAG-AFTRA franchised boutique agency for professional actors since 2009.
