The next addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: Brave New World, is set to reach theatres on February 14, 2025 – and this Captain America adventure sees Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson, formerly known as Falcon, carrying the shield now that his pal Steve Rogers is retired. But he’s not the only hero who’s taking on the mantle of a fellow hero in this film. With a new Captain America comes a new Falcon, as Wilson has passed his old set of wings (as seen in the TV series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) over to United States Air Force intelligence officer Joaquín Torres, played by Danny Ramirez – and director Julius Onah told Empire that the brotherhood between Sam and Joaquín is a key emotional center in the film.

When Sam Wilson takes centre stage in next February's Captain America: Brave New World, he'll have some backup in Joaquín Torres, the McU's new Falcon.
Introduced as a supporting character in Disney 's The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, he'll suit up in this movie and our first official look at him in action alongside Captain America can be seen below.
Empire Online also spoke with Captain America: Brave New World's Julius Onah who, contrary to recent reports, has not been removed as the movie's helmer.
"There’s this incredible big brother/little brother dynamic between them," the filmmaker said of the new Captain America/Falcon dynamic. "It’s going to be one of the key emotional centres of the film."
"These guys are incredible fighters," Onah continued. "And Sam has been there and back. He’s got some tricks up his sleeve, and over the course of the...

Update: A source familiar with the project has confirmed that Julius Onah is still on board as director of Captain America: Brave New World.
Original story follows.
Captain America: Brave New World has had a tumultuous journey to the screen, and whether every rumor about issues plaguing the production prove to be accurate or not, it seems clear that Marvel Studios is struggling to deliver the best possible version of the movie.
Amid reports of a ballooning budget, disappointing test-screenings and a lot of reshoots, the movie began another round of additional photography on Monday, and we're now hearing that another director has stepped behind the camera.
According to World of Reel, original director Julius Onah is no longer at the helm.

Following the release of a brand-new trailer, Captain America: Brave New World star Anthony Mackie has taken to Instagram to share a new still from the movie to celebrate Veterans Day.
The image gives us another look at Mackie as Sam Wilson in his new costume. "Happy Veterans Day America. To all of our men and women in uniform, thank you for your service and sacrifice," the actor captioned his post.
In related news, it seems the recent rumor that the fourth Cap adventure was set to undergo more reshoots was accurate, as Mackie has been spotted shooting new scenes for the movie in LA. There's a good chance that these are just a few minor pick-ups, but there's speculation that additional photography was scheduled after some recent test-screenings.
According to reports, the responses from those that attended were largely mixed-negative, with the movie described as “inessential” and “flat.”

Marvel Studios didn't bring any new announcements to D23 Brazil, but Kevin Feige was still kind enough to share a couple of big surprises with fans at home, including action-packed new trailers for Captain America: Brave New World and Thunderbolts*.
You can check those out Here and Here, but Disney has just sent over some official stills from two of 2025's biggest comic book movies.
For Captain America: Brave New World, the undeniable highlight is a new shot of Harrison Ford as Red Hulk. The legendary actor has graced the screen in all manner of iconic roles over the years, and it's fair to say we never expected to see the Indiana Jones and Star Wars icon quite like this.
For Thunderbolts*, we have a great shot of the team along with characters like Yelena Belova, Bucky, and Bob. While the latter is expected to suit up as The Sentry,...

Today, at the first-ever Brazil D23 fan event, Marvel Studios debuted a brand-new trailer and poster for Captain America: Brave New World, both of which you can check out below.
In the sneak peek, we see a lot more of what Sam Wilson can do as Captain America as he shows off some of the impressive abilities the Wakandans have installed in his suit (which more than make up for any lack of superpowers).
Captain America: Brave New World very much feels like a spiritual successor to 2014's Captain America: The Winter Soldier and this trailer leans heavily into the espionage aspects. However, there's plenty of epic action too because Harrison Ford's Red Hulk is fully unleashed for a battle with Sam in front of the White House.
Red Hulk looks great in action, though we've known since 2012 that Marvel Studios and Ilm have mastered bringing that character to life.

The movie, set to release in February, follows Sam Wilson (Mackie) as he fully embraces his role as the new Captain America. He struggled with the idea of taking the mantle from Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.” But after John Walker (Wyatt Russell) took the super soldier serum and well, became unhinged in the job, Sam finally embraced what his friend wanted for him.

We’ve been waiting for the next installment in ‘Captain America’ franchise since Sam Wilson took over the mantle in the MCU. The character’s first standalone movie was marked with significant hype but also with several scandals.
The development of the movie was long and complicated, during which the movie was delayed several times and underwent allegedly pricy and lengthy reshoots, due to poor test screenings.
Tonight, during the D23 panel in Brazil a new trailer for the movie was released you can check it out below!

Captain America: Brave New World is the next Marvel Studios movie heading our way and fans remain optimistic that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier sequel will kick off 2025 in style.
It's no secret Sam Wilson's first solo outing has undergone extensive reshoots, so we're hoping those fixed the movie rather than plastering over issues too glaring to hide.
Now, we have a supposed first look at Captain America: Brave New World's popcorn bucket. As you can see below, it's a diorama of Red Hulk breaking Sam's shield in half. Presumably, the popcorn is somewhere in the back! Will the iconic shield actually be snapped? That remains to be seen, but this is a pretty big spoiler if so.
In related news, scooper Daniel Richtman is reporting that a new trailer for the movie will be released tomorrow at D23 Brazil. We'll bring that to you if and...

D23 Brazil is currently in full swing and we now have a detailed look at Sam Wilson's new costume in Captain America: Brave New World.
Whether the design is an upgrade or downgrade over The Falcon and The Winter Soldier is up for debate, though it does feel like it's meant to reflect how Steve Rogers' suit evolved heading into Captain America: The Winter Soldier in 2014.
We only expect Sam to wear the one suit in this movie and it will likely be changed again for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.

In the case of Marvel Studios, it was time to get back to quality over quantity. Despite that, 2025 will still see the release of 10 big and small screen titles from Marvel Studios, Marvel Television, and Marvel Animation as we race towards the end of the Multiverse Saga.
One of the reasons for this jam-packed year is 2023's Hollywood strikes, though some of these movies and TV shows have seemingly sat on the shelf for at least the past couple of years. Captain America: Brave New World is the next movie heading our way from Marvel Studios and we expect the marketing campaign to ramp up in a big way as 2024 nears its end.
Today, we have a first look at some awesome new Marvel Legends action figures from Hasbro.
As you can see, they put the spotlight on Captain America, the McU's new Falcon, Joaquin Torres, and Harrison Ford's Red Hulk. Sam Wilson's new helmet is very cool, while that Falcon design arguably feels more in line with the comics than even what we saw Sam wear.
As for President "Thunderbolt" Ross' imposing villain, he looks like...well, a red Hulk. Marvel Studios has done the comic books justice with this design and we're hoping to also see his same fiery powers from those.

A rumored run-time for Captain America: Brave New World is doing the rounds online.
Though this probably won't be confirmed until early next year, @Cryptic4KQual - who is generally spot on when it comes to movie run-times - has heard that Sam Wilson's first big-screen outing as the Sentinel of Liberty will clock in at about 2 hours and 15 minutes.
If accurate, this would be pretty standard for a Marvel Studios movie, which usually pass the 2-hour mark.
Some new test-screenings for Brave New World reportedly took place earlier this month, and the reactions from those in attendance were not exactly positive.
Apparently, two screenings were held, with attendees split into groups with either a green or red bracelet. An initial report from World of Reel claimed that two cuts of the film were shown, but we're not sure if this is accurate (the studio was more likely looking...

Several iconic filmmakers - including Martin Scorsese and Francis Ford Coppola - have called out Marvel/superhero movies over the years, which has led to a lot of people (not to mention film news outlets) taking a similar stance.
In addition to the usual criticisms, there is a perception that big studio superhero blockbusters are not "real cinema," and that their domination of the marketplace prevents or makes it more difficult for smaller films to gain wide distribution.
While most actors would still jump at the chance to join the MCU or another superhero franchise, this does seem to have put some high-profile stars off the idea.
Not Harrison Ford.
During an interview with GQ, the Captain America: Brave New World star was asked for his thoughts on joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe for a "Red Hulk Movie" at this stage of his career.

The very first test-screenings for Captain America: Brave New World (then known as New World Order) were said to have been met with a mostly negative response, which is believed to have prompted Marvel Studios to order extensive reshoots.
Additional photography for the sequel took place over a 4-month period, with Marvel enlisting Moon Knight writer Matthew Orton to pen new scenes and material for the film. Reshoots are the norm (especially for major studio tentpoles), but such a significant period of AP led to speculation that the studio must be making some major changes to the story.
Some new test-screenings reportedly took place last week, and, based on what we're hearing, this version of the movie didn't go over much better.

Marvel Studios' decision to introduce Israeli superhero Sabra in Captain America: Brave New World was met with a fair amount of backlash when Shira Hass' casting was first announced, and the controversy was reignited after the release of the first trailer back in July.
In the comics, Sabra, aka Ruth Bat-Seraph, is a mutant with superhuman strength, speed, agility, reflexes, endurance, and stamina. She first appeared in the pages of The Incredible Hulk back in 1980 as a Mossad (the Israeli Secret Service) agent.
Marvel later revealed that this part of her origin will be altered, and the character will be reimagined as a former Black Widow. The Wrap followed up by claiming that Sabra (this name will likely be dropped) will speak "with an Israeli accent, and is an Israeli former Black Widow who now serves as a high-ranking U.S. government official in President Ross’ (Harrison Ford) administration."

A (supposed) plot leak for Captain America: Brave New World is doing the rounds online (check back later on for more), and while we haven't been able to fully verify its accuracy, at least one thing mentioned in the breakdown does appear to be on the level.
Possible spoilers follow.
According to scooper Mttsh, the Marvel Studios sequel will feature a cameo from Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier.
Taking Bucky's connection to Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) into account, this wouldn't exactly be a major surprise.
The two became close friends during the events of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and even though Barnes' arc does appear to have taken him down a very different path (we know he joins the Thunderbolts), it would only make sense that he'd drop in on his old pal to see how his career as the new Sentinel of Liberty is going.

Captain America: Brave New World Funko Pops Reveal Closer Look At New Falcon And Villainous Red Hulk
Captain America: Brave New World was supposed to be released this year, but like many movies, it got caught up in the WGA/SAG-AFTRA strikes that lasted for several months in 2023.
Not helping matters is the fact Marvel Studios decided the movie needed extensive reshoots which are believed to have reshaped much of the story and action scenes, adding and removing certain characters.
All this chaos has seen Happy Meal toys arrive in McDonald's close to a year before Captain America: Brave New World's theatrical release and we now have a first look at some upcoming Funko Pops.
As you can see, we're getting Sam Wilson/Captain America, Joaquin Torres/The Falcon, President Ross, and the formidable Red Hulk. There are no major surprises here, especially as Red Hulk looks exactly like you'd probably expect (it's a shame there are no flames as that would have confirmed one of...

Marvel Studios has made some major missteps during the Multiverse Saga; however, with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars fast approaching, we're seeing a major course correction and a shift back to quality over quantity.
Daredevil: Born Again underwent a major creative overhaul mid-shoot and Captain America: Brave New World has also undergone extensive reshoots meant to fix what wasn't working.
Talking to The Hollywood Reporter, The Leader actor Tim Blake Nelson shared some insights into just how much those have changed what we'll see in theaters next February.
"Well, we’re done. I’ve shot it," he started. "I’ve actually shot it twice because I did it originally a year ago, and then we came back and redid a lot of it at the beginning of it this summer. Every single movie I do hopefully makes me better."

New Girl is definitely one of the most heartwarmingly funny series about friends and love created by Elizabeth Meriwether. The Fox comedy series follows the chirpy and naive Jessica as she moves into a loft with 3 guys who are equally as quirky and weird. New Girl stars Zooey Deschanel, Jake Johnson, Max Greenfield, Hannah Simone, Lamorne Morris, Damon Wayans Jr., Nasim Pedrad, and Megan Fox. New Girl lasted for seven seasons ending its run in 2018, so if you loved the unending optimism, quirky personalities, and a group of young friends trying to find their way here are some similar shows you should check out next.

The Mandalorian star Giancarlo Esposito was added to the cast of Captain America: Brave New World during reshoots. Following speculation that he'd been cast as G.W. Bridge, the actor was finally confirmed as Seth Voelker/Sidewinder at last month's San Diego Comic-Con.
The character is best known for leading the Serpent Society, a group of technologically and genetically enhanced villains who may or may not have been cut from The Falcon and The Winter Soldier follow-up.
In the trailer for Captain America: Brave New World, Sidewinder looks more like a paid assassin or mercenary than anything else; however, Esposito shared some intriguing new details while appearing at Fan Expo Chicago this weekend.
He described Sidewinder as "a scientist [and] a great mind," teasing, "You will see me do things that you've never seen me do before."

The next addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain America: Brave New World, is set to reach theatres on February 14, 2025 – and this Captain America adventure, which sees Anthony Mackie’s character Sam Wilson, formerly known as Falcon, carrying the shield now that his pal Steve Rogers is retired, has some strong connections to the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk. Not only does it feature the Incredible Hulk character Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross (with Harrison Ford taking over for the late William Hurt), but Liv Tyler is reprising the role of Ross’s daughter Betty and Tim Blake Nelson is back as Samuel Sterns, also known as The Leader. During a chat with Variety, Nelson confirmed that he was pleased to have the opportunity to play Sterns again, and said that, despite talk of superhero fatigue and some of last year’s entries having disappointing box office returns, you should never “count Marvel out.

Tim Blake Nelson first played The Leader in 2008's The Incredible Hulk, the second MCU movie after Iron Man was released earlier that same year.
Samuel Sterns' story ended with a hint that he was about to become The Leader but, over a decade and a half later, we still don't know what became of him. However, thanks to Captain America: Brave New World, all that changes next year.
"I deeply, deeply grieved over the prospect of not being able to come back into the MCU," Nelson told Variety of his absence in a recent interview. "All I wanted to do, as an actor, was to figure out what happens to this guy. 18 years later I got to do it and I wasn’t disappointed."
"It was a great challenge and I was guided beautifully by Julius Onah, who’s an indie director," he said of the next Captain America movie.

Marvel Studios chose to only officially release a new trailer for Agatha All Along during this weekend's D23 event and, as you might expect, that's led to a lot of footage being leaked on social media.

The D23-exclusive trailer for Captain America: Brave New World leaked online last night and offered our best look yet at Harrison Ford's Red Hulk (you can check it out here if you missed it).
Now, we have a clip from the movie which sees President "Thunderbolt" Ross pitch Sam Wilson, the McU's new Captain America, on the idea of rebuilding The Avengers.
Sam reminds the Commander in Chief that he was the one who tore Earth's Mightiest Heroes apart with the Sokovia Accords, but Ross is keenly aware that he now represents the whole of America. He also acknowledges that half of them wouldn't be there without The Avengers, a nod to the Blip and Iron Man's heroic sacrifice.

Marvel Studios brought its Comic-Con teaser for Captain America: Brave New World to D23 and, with upwards of 12,000 Disney fans in attendance, footage of Red Hulk has already leaked online!
We only caught a glimpse of the villain in the officially released trailer earlier this summer, but Red Hulk is now unleashed in all his fiery glory and Harrison Ford looks awesome in the role.
As we're sure you'll notice, it appears President "Thunderbolt" Ross transforms right in front of the White House, and Red Hulk emerging from behind the Commander in Chief's lectern is a fantastic piece of imagery.
It remains to be seen how Sam Wilson can battle a Hulk and, as of now, we don't know whether Ford's Red Hulk is a one-and-done villain for Captain America: Brave New World or a character who will also factor into Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret War.

Harrison Ford may not have taken a crash course in the lore of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but he seems to have had a good time taking on the role of President Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross in the upcoming film Captain America: Brave New World, which is set to reach theatres on February 14, 2025 – and he also appeared to have a blast while promoting the film at the recent San Diego Comic-Con. As given away in the film’s teaser trailer and on the teaser poster (seen at the bottom of this article), Ross transforms into the Red Hulk at some point in the movie, a fact that inspired Ford to do a Hulk roar when he took the stage at Comic-Con. Ford also did the motion capture performance for the Red Hulk, a process that he described as “being an idiot for money.”

“Captain America: Brave New World” was a huge piece of Marvel’s massive Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con this year, and an even more massive reveal: Red Hulk.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. As the segment began, from onstage Kevin Feige set the tone: “There was a movie called ‘Captain America: Winter Soldier that was grounded, relatively grounded.” He effectively added that the studio has returned to that “level of grounded action movie” within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Speaking of grounded, the flying Captain America himself, Anthony Mackie (onstage with the rest of the cast) described Sam as being a “cerebral character,” linking his character to his first introduction in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” when he was a counselor.
Also revealed on stage: Giancarlo Esposito will be playing Sidewinder, the king of the Serpent Society, a comic book villain first introduced in 1980.

Sdcc: New Marvel Logo Unveiled Along With Best Look Yet At Captain America: Brave New World Costumes
After opening its doors for attendees with press badges last night, San Diego Comic-Con 2024 is now officially underway. We'll be bringing you all the breaking news from the major panels over the weekend, but for now, some photos from the Marvel booth have been shared online.
The updated Marvel logo was unveiled, and while it doesn't feature any new live-action imagery, we do get another look at Johnny Storm from The Fantastic Four and Sam Wilson from Captain America: Brave New World, with Deadpool and Wolverine front and center.
Interestingly, the mural also includes Miles Morales, not Peter Parker, as Spider-Man.
In addition, the costumes Anthony Mackie will don in Brave New World are on display at the booth, giving us our best look yet at the brand-new (though it does clearly take inspiration from earlier designs) outfit and helmet Captain America will suit-up in.
Check out the photos/video at the links below.

Marvel Studios debuted the first trailer for Captain America: Brave New World earlier this month, and the teaser begins with a mind-controlled Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly) making an attempt on President Ross' (Harrison Ford) life.
In the wake of the recent assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, the studio has now released an alternate version of the trailer which will play in theaters ahead of Deadpool and Wolverine, and it removes a couple of key shots.
Instead of Bradley opening fire through the glass and Ross falling forward, the new footage sees Isaiah making his escape and flinging a table at his pursuers. The rest of the trailer plays out the same as the original.
This isn't the first time something like this has happened, and while some feel it's an understandable action, it does usually leave others to wonder if it's really necessary - especially when the original...

Marvel Studios' decision to introduce Israeli superhero Sabra in Captain America: Brave New World was met with some backlash when Shira Hass' casting was first announced, and the controversy was reignited after the release of the first trailer last week.
Marvel soon revealed that this part of her origin will be altered, and the character will be reimagined as a former Black Widow - but we now have confirmation that Ruth will still be Israeli in the film.
According to The Wrap, Sabra (this name will likely be dropped) will speak "with an Israeli accent, and is an Israeli former Black Widow who now serves as a high-ranking U.S. government...

When Giancarlo Esposito confirmed he'd joined the MCU in a mystery role, speculation immediately went into overdrive. Names like Professor X, Magneto, and Doctor Doom were batted around, only for The Boys star to be spotted on the Captain America: Brave New World set.
Added during reshoots, it's believed Esposito is taking the place of the Serpent Society as a secondary villain in Sam Wilson's first outing as Captain America.
Social media scoopers have claimed the actor's gun-toting baddie is G.W. Bridge/George Washington Bridge, an obscure character from the comics who has ties to Cable's Wild Pack and S.H.I.E.L.D.
During a convention appearance this weekend, Esposito appeared to debunk those claims.
"The character I'm playing is a badass," he started. "That always excites me. For me to develop that character in line with the character's inception is a fascinating art for me.

Captain America: Brave New World has dominated headlines for months thanks to pretty extensive-sounding reshoots and some wild claims about the movie's massive budget (which have since been debunked).
The teaser trailer arrived yesterday and includes plenty of talking points; however, one of the biggest has been the inclusion of Shira Haas' Ruth Bat-Seraph, a character better known in the comics as Sabra.
She's long been considered problematic, dating back to her debut in the pages of The Incredible Hulk in 1980. At the time, Ruth was frequently portrayed fighting Arabic terrorist tropes, while the "Sabra" name has several meanings, some of which are now considered offensive.
Then, there's the fact that both pro and anti-Israel parties have issues with the character, a headache for Disney given current world events!
We told you yesterday that Marvel Studios is changing Sabra's backstory so that she's now a former Black Widow turned U.

There were lots of big talking points in the first teaser for Captain America: Brave New World, including some noteworthy changes from the CinemaCon trailer which have likely been removed for one of two reasons.
The first is that Marvel Studios didn't want to give too much away in this sneak peek; at CinemaCon, President Ross was shown asking Sam Wilson to "rebuild The Avengers" and Isaiah Bradley attempted to assassinate the Commander-in-Chief after Winter Soldier-style brainwashing was activated.
The second possibility is that those plot beats have been taken out, alongside the Serpent Society according to social media's many scoopers, as a result of recent reshoots.
We'll have to wait and see, but one key character thankfully remains: The Leader.
While we'd imagine most of you picked up on this (it's pretty hard to miss), the Captain America: Brave New World trailer features not one, but two glimpses of the iconic Hulk villain.

A day later than expected, Marvel Studios released the first teaser trailer for Captain America: Brave New World earlier today, and while it didn't feature too many major reveals - with one big, red, very angry exception - it did give us a better idea of what to expect when Sam Wilson makes his big-screen debut as the McU's new Sentinel of Liberty.
Below, you'll find a breakdown of the biggest talking points from the trailer.
The New Avengers(?)
Like the footage that screened at CinemaCon earlier this year, the teaser begins with Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) meeting with President Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross (Harrison Ford), who tells the hero that he wants to "make Captain America an official military position."
Though he doesn't say the "A" word here, we know from the CinemaCon breakdown that this will involve forming a new team of government-sponsored Avengers. Sam seems hesitant ("what if we disagree?...
