Born in Oklahoma into a cattle ranching family. Matty as he is known to his friends spent the first two decades of his life on the Ranch as a cowboy. After graduating from the University of Oklahoma with a Bachelor of Arts and cutting his teeth in the Grip and Electric trades in the local Oklahoma market, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a Grip. Blessed with success he found his way into working with some of the finest in the business.
