Craig Hunegs
Craig Hunegs is president of Disney Television Studios (DTS). He reports to Dana Walden, chairman, Disney Television Studios and ABC Entertainment.
In this position, Hunegs has oversight of all functions and areas of operation for Disney Television Studios, which includes 20th Television, ABC Signature and Touchstone Television. Reporting directly to Hunegs are Carolyn Cassidy, president, 20th Television; Jonnie Davis, president, ABC Signature; and Bert Salke, president, Touchstone Television.
Under Hunegs' leadership, Disney Television Studios is home to 4 of the top 5 scripted shows, 10 of the top 20 across broadcast and cable: "This Is Us" (No. 1 scripted show), "9-1-1," "Grey's Anatomy," "Modern Family," "The Good Doctor," "9-1-1: Lone Star" (No. 1 new drama), "A Million Little Things," "American Horror Story," "Station 19" and "Criminal Minds" (Adults 18-49, L35); as well as being the industry leader in adult animation. It has also amassed the No. 1 scripted series on 10 networks/platforms: "Grey's Anatomy"/ABC, "This Is Us"/NBC, "9-1-1"/FOX, "American Horror Story"/FX, "Queen of the South"/USA, "American Dad"/TBS, "Barkskins"/Nat Geo, "Godfather of Harlem"/Epix, "grown-ish"/Freeform (Adults 18-49, L7); "Little Fires Everywhere"/Hulu (first eight weeks). The studios are currently the industry-leading producer with 64 series across 16 platforms and the studios' programming was just awarded 47 Emmy® Award nominations. Recent successes include "Love, Victor," ranked as the No.1 most-watched drama on Hulu overall - licensed or original - during its premiere week; "Little Fires Everywhere," the most-watched Hulu original ever and recipient of five Emmy Award nominations including Outstanding Limited Series; and "Solar Opposites," Hulu's most-watched original comedy launch to date, averaging 5.9 million households per episode after 35 days.
Hunegs most recently served as president, Business and Strategy, Warner Bros. Television Group, and president, Warner Bros. Digital Networks, where he was responsible for overall Television Group performance and for creating growth across Warner Bros.' industry-leading television business.
In the core Television Group business, Hunegs actively managed production for U.S. broadcast, basic and premium cable networks and SVOD services, the growth of Warner Bros. Animation's kids business, expansion of international local production and the evolution of linear and on-demand TV distribution windows. Hunegs was also the lead deal-maker for all Television Group production divisions. He served on the board of The CW Network, where he played an active role in setting its linear and digital distribution strategies. He was promoted to the WBTVG president role in May 2013.
Hunegs has been intimately involved with such shows as "Friends," "ER," "West Wing," "Big Bang Theory," "The Bachelor," "Ellen," "Shameless," "Queen Sugar," and all the DC Comics series on The CW and the DC Universe app.
Hunegs was the founding president of Warner Bros. Digital Networks and led the rapid build-out of Warner Bros. OTT services. Previously, he served as executive vice president, Warner Bros. Television Group, from 2006-2013, where he played a central role in managing the division and developing, planning and implementing its key initiatives.
Hunegs is a past board member of the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Foundation, NATPE, The Alliance for Children's Rights and the Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. Hunegs is a trustee of Barnard College, Columbia University.
