Richard&#39;s first job at 17 was acting as &#39;chauffeur&#39; to drag artiste Barry Stevens around night clubs and working men&#39;s clubs of West Yorkshire and Manchester.

Richard joined the Bradford Playhouse at 9 years of age and the Halifax Playhouse at 15.
