Wil Garret
- Actor
Mr. and Mrs. Elgie Garrett were blessed upon the arrival of their eldest son, Wil
Garret (aka 'Mr. G.') on April 20, 1938 in Emory, Texas. He entered into rest on
April 29, 2021 in Los Angeles, California. Although we long for his earthly presence,
he completed his life's course and God took him home. To be absent from this body, is
to be present with the Lord.
As was common in the early 50's, Wil left home at 14-years old to help support his
family. By the time he was 16-years old, he made his way to California in which he
worked odd jobs around Los Angeles. At 18, Wil enlisted in the marines where he
was deployed to the Korean war. He proudly served his country. After he completed
his time in the Marines, he rejoined his immediate family in Tucson, Arizona. He
eventually made his way back to Los Angeles. While working at a gas station in the
early 1970s he met a movie producer. This chance meeting led to a career in acting
spanning five decades.
Wil Garrett was affectionately known as the famous one of the family. He was
involved in over a 100 movies, commercials, and music videos. To name a few of his
credits, he was known as a "Homeless man" in the Soloist, "Old Black Man" in It's
Always Sunny in Philadelphia, "Toby" in the Parkers, "Harry" in Community,
"Benny" in Criminal Minds, and music videos: "Follow Your Arrow" by Kacey
Musgraves, "Tanzanite" by Yvonne Sangudi, "Sugar Daddy Santa Claus" by Randy
Scott, and "I Know" by Big Sean.
He was preceded in death by his parents Mr. and Mrs. Elgie Garrett, and brothers
Lavern Garrett, Robert Garrett, Elroyce Garrett, Lenthan Garrett, Randy Garrett,
Willie B. Garrett , and sister Vickie Coleman..
Wil will be deeply missed and his memories will be cherished by his soulmate Paula
Neal and her daughter Tia Taylor; his son Drew Tank Garrett (wife-Elethica); two
