Broadway World first broke the news of The Jeff Lima Production Award, an annual $10,000 grant bestowed on a graduate student or alum from New York University Tisch School of the Arts- Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television, awarded toward projects that advance the Latinx image, on screen.
The New York native started training in theatre at the age of 12. His first film audition landed him a role in the Oscar Award Nominated film, Half Nelson. His television and film credits steadily grew with appearances in "Guiding Light", "Blue Bloods", and "Taxi Brooklyn".
He landed a series regular role in the critically acclaimed HBO mini-series, Show Me a Hero and recurs on NBC's Chicago Fire as Leon Cruz.
