Until moving to Utah, Joe was a native of NorCal. Born in Berkeley and raised in SF/Bay Area, as a child his family also spent five years in the rural maritime areas of Long Island, NY and the countryside of New Jersey. Here he first found his acting interests on stage and saw a glimpse of a developing writing skill.
Performing was in his genes, with grandfathers both in the business in the 1920's. Giuseppe Carcione, a star tenor in the San Francisco Metropolitan Opera, and Arthur L. Amos Sr., a cowboy actor in Hollywood. Joe heard the call after seeing film versions of "West Side Story" and "Li' l Abner"
In interviews, he has said that he regrets using his early working years to pursue careers as a Vehicle Dealer, an entrepreneur and executive in the environmental field, although recognizes that he now brings many experiences to acting.
He returned to acting in 2004 and has been a leading and supporting actor in a few small film productions while studying with top instructors in the SF/Bay Area and LA. He is known for intensity, focus, commitment and versatility and enjoys portraying wide ranges of characters.
Whether performing as a sea captain, husband, father, biker, sidekick, bad boy, psychologist, teacher, or assassin, Joe Amos will provide a passionate performance.
He has been referred to as a "Teddy Bear in Lone Wolf's Clothing," the "Bright and Heady Blue-Collar Guy," a "Wandering Wise Man from the East," the "Vigilant Family Doberman who Plays with the Cat," the "Sheriff who Faces the Outlaws at the Edge of Town."
He has written three feature length screenplays and a few fictional novels all under pen names.
Certified as a counselor in treating addictions, he volunteers time in the recovery field.
