Colin Downey is a graduate of National College of Art and Design,
Dublin. He has won international awards as a Writer, Director and Cinematographer including; 1st place at The Los Angeles Screenplay Competition in 2015 for 'The Brave Tin Soldier', Best Director, Euro Film Festival 2016 for 'Daria', Best Cinematography : Strasbourg Fantastic film festival for 'Tin Can Man', among others. His latest film 'Daria' has also won awards at the Mexico International Film Festival, the Nevada International Film Festival, the Accolade Global Film Competition and the International Independent Film Awards.
His 'Dreams Trilogy' of films were screened at the Irish Film Institute and at festivals around the world. These films, 'Paranoia', King for A Day' and 'Dream Diary' have been praised as reminiscent of the work of Carl Dreyer, Ingmar Bergman and David Cronenberg respectively.
He went on to be funded by the Irish film board on the 'micro' budget' features 'The Looking Glass' (Brinkvision distribution) and 'The Shadows' (Rogue Arts distribution). The Irish film board have also funded development of Colin's adaptation of The Brave Tin Soldier by Hans Christian Andersen.
