Canadian Screen Award nominated composer Michael White is known for his virtuosic trumpet playing and innovative work with modular synthesizers. A frequent collaborator with composers such as Andrew Lockington, David Buckley, Jon Goldsmith, Joe Trapanese, Christophe Beck and Harry Gregson-Willams, Michael's passion is collaboration with the goal of finding new approaches to create unique sound signatures for films and video. His style is a hybrid, mixing acoustic and electronic sounds which has been described as organic.
Among his credits as composer is the 2004 score to the Oscar Award winning animated short "Ryan" by Chris Landreth, Brandon Cronenberg's "Antiviral" co-writing and producing the score with Eric Woodley, the feature film "Trigger Point" featuring Barry Pepper (Saving Private Ryan), Netflix series "V-Wars" and "Giants of Africa" by Oscar-nominated Director Hubert Davis.
As an educator, Mr. White taught Music Technology at the Glenn Gould School of the Royal Conservatory of Music from 1996 to 2015. He is also active as a guest lecturer at universities across Southern Ontario on using analog synthesis in music for film.
