Krishnendu is a BAFTA-winning Film & TV producer. He recently produced feature film 'Close To You' by Dominic Savage starring Elliot Page which World Premiered in the Special Presentations section of the Toronto International Film Festival 2023. He co-runs Me+You Productions with Richard Yee. They recently produced 'Alice & Jack', a 6-part drama series by Vic Levin for Channel 4/PBS Masterpiece starring Andrea Riseborough, Domhnall Gleeson, Aisling Bea and Aimee Lou Wood.
He produced the acclaimed 'I Am Ruth' by Dominic Savage (Channel 4), starring Kate Winslet. The film won multiple awards including two BAFTA awards for single drama and Lead Actress and also a Royal Television Society Award. The other six films in the 'I Am' anthology by Dominic Savage starred Lesley Manville, Letitia Wright, Suzanne Jones, Samantha Morton, Vicky McClure and Gemma Chan. The series has been acquired by HBO in the US.
Other Credits include creating and producing the international EMMY-winning comedy 'Hoff the Record' starring David Hasslehoff, Brett Goldstein and Asim Chaudhry; co-creating the BAFTA-nominated global hit 'An Idiot Abroad' starring Ricky Gervais, Stephen Merchant and Karl Pilkington; executive producing two series of comedy drama 'Sick of It' by Karl Pilkington and Richard Yee, two series of 'The Moaning of Life' starring Karl Pilkington and a feature documentary 'End to End' (Amazon) starring George Ezra. He produced the Royal Television Society winning 'The Dali and the Cooper' for Sky directed by Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard starring David Suchet and Noel Fielding.
In his early career, he was a documentary maker directing films like the BAFTA nominated polemic 'Who you callin' a N***er?' (Channel 4) and the major political profile 'Michael Howard: No More Mr Nasty' (BBC 2), 'What's Killing Darcus Howe?' and 'Bleach, Nip, Tuck: The White Beauty Myth' (Channel 4).
He studied English and Drama (Theatre, Film and Television) at Bristol University before winning a scholarship to do a postgraduate journalism diploma at Cardiff University and then uniquely trained on the ITN News Trainee Scheme working on ITV News, Channel 4 News and 5 News and the prestigious BBC Production Trainee Scheme where he worked across the BBC including BBC Film, Radio Drama, Newsnight Review and the Arts Department.
In June 2023, he finished his 3-year term as Chair of BAFTA having been involved in various elected roles in the Academy for 18 years. He presided over seismic change when he led the BAFTA 2020 Review which resulted in over 120 ground-breaking changes to awards campaigning, voting and membership. It marked a cultural shift at BAFTA, from passive to proactive and progressive in tackling inequality. He has been selected four times by the Variety V500 list as one of the influential business leaders shaping the global media industry.
