To say that The Big Bend is set in the American desert is technically true but also a wild understatement. The stark and unsettling beauty of West Texas, with its cliffs and canyons and ghost towns, isn’t mere backdrop to this well-observed drama; it infuses the movie on a molecular level. Brett Wagner’s atmospheric feature — which has begun its theatrical journey a couple of years after playing the fest circuit — revolves around a holiday get-together that proves anything but relaxing for two couples and their school-age kids. With its mixture of laid-back intimacy and stressed-out intensity, the story pushes the characters out of their not-so-comfortable comfort zones and into an uncharted territory that’s variously tantalizing, terrifying and forgiving.
The pull of mystery and adventure is there from the get-go, in the traveling shot that opens the film: a view through the windshield of a car moving down a two-lane highway.

This post contains spoilers for "Primer."
It is tempting to describe "Primer" as a time travel film — which it very much is — but the sheer headiness of the subject matter morphs it into something undefinable and elusive, eclipsing the metaphor of a puzzle box by the time the credits roll. Crafted with a shoestring budget of roughly $7,000, Shane Carruth's debut feature demands a certain sense of discipline and meticulous attention to detail, where seemingly innocuous dialogue or subtle character expressions often prove crucial to unraveling its wildly complicated plot. To call "Primer" confusing is an understatement: it is a film that absolutely requires repeat viewings simply to be understood, but engaging intimately with it does not guarantee comprehension of every facet.
Although Carruth peppers enough clues and red herrings to help us arrive at a sound conclusion, "Primer" does not encourage the tying up of every loose end, or...

London, July 15 (Ians) West Ham United on Saturday confirmed that they have reached an agreement for Declan Rice to leave the club.
The 24-year-old England midfielder leaves the Hammers having made a total of 245 senior appearances for the Club — the last of which finished in glory last month as he lifted the UEFA Europa Conference League trophy in Prague to end our 43-year wait for a major honour.
“West Ham United can confirm that agreement has been reached for Declan Rice to leave the Club for a British record transfer fee,” the club said in a statement.
Having progressed from the Academy of Football at Chadwell Heath, where he began his Claret and Blue journey as a 14-year-old in 2013 before making his first-team debut against Burnley in May 2017, the Kingston-born midfielder has established himself as one of the greatest young talents in world football.

With shaggy hair, tired eyes, and a tortured persona, Tom Holland is hardly recognizable in the latest Apple TV series, "The Crowded Room." The limited thriller series premiered on the platform on June 9, and it stars Holland as David Sullivan, a man who is involved in a New York City shooting in 1979. After his arrest, interrogator Rya Goodwin (Amanda Seyfried) seeks to understand his involvement in the crime and slowly gets David to reveal details of his past that led him to the incident.
"The Crowded Room" is not for the faint of heart, and even took a toll on Holland, who recently revealed to Extra that the nature of the show wasn't easy to deal with. "It was a tough time, for sure," he explained. "I'm now taking a year off, and that is a result of how difficult this show was."

London, June 8 (Ians) West Ham chairman David Sullivan has confirmed that England midfielder Declan Rice is set to leave the club this summer. Sullivan made his assertion on TalkSport in the wake of West Ham’s 2-1 triumph over Fiorentina in the final of UEFA Europa Conference League on Wednesday.
When asked about his future after the match, 24-year-old Rice, who has played 245 times for West Ham, had said he “loved the club.”
“My focus, and it has been since the World Cup, is to win this trophy and keep West Ham in the Premier League. I genuinely don’t know what’s happening at the minute. That is my honest answer,” added Rice, who explained he had “two years left on my contract and ultimately it is up to the people above.”

It’s been quite a decade (and a bit) for Signature Entertainment. Having launched in 2011 as a U.K. DVD distribution business (its first release: the live-action/animated adaptation of the classic British children’s book The Velveteen Rabbit), the company — set up by former DVD salesman Marc Goldberg — has evolved and grown with the changing times. David Sullivan ended up in the Ed again.
It was inevitable after Chicago Med Season 8 Episode 1 when his parents refused to believe that he had schizoaffective disorder and refused to get him psychiatric help.
But on Chicago Med Season 8 Episode 15, David had been on psych meds for a while before having another psychotic episode. Who could have predicted that after his parents' attitude the last time?
Since David's parents had refused treatment, it would have made more sense if David's auditory hallucinations and belief he was dead came from being unmedicated.
However, where would the story have gone if Chicago Med had gone in that direction? We already had the story of the parents refusing to accept that their son needed help; we didn't need a repeat.

"Do you scare easily?" Vertical Ent. has revealed an official trailer for an indie horror thriller titled Saving Grace, made by filmmakers Gareth Carr & David Sullivan as their first feature film. When Sarah becomes a remote carer to escape her violent city past, she discovers your demons can follow, turning tranquility into a terrifying nightmare. This hasn't been playing at any festivals, and seems like a quickly forgettable low key horror with all the usual tropes and expected scary scenes. Not the best trailer either. Saving Grace stars newcomer Kirsty McKenzie (seen in Guilt and Magic), along with Gary Boulter,, and Carole Sharkey-Water. This doesn't look like there is much here to take an interest in - unless you love indie horror films. ›››

Writer/director Brett Wagner turns Big Bend National Park into a living, breathing character in the compelling drama, The Big Bend. The sense of disconnect from the world the landscape offers is the perfect backdrop for the story of two couples forced to confront issues within their marriages.
New Jerseyans Cory and Melanie Price, along with their two young daughters, head to West Texas to reconnect with old friends. The Talbotts live in Terlingua, Texas on the outskirts of Big Bend National Park, but it might as well be on the moon; the area feels alien to what the Prices are used to. It’s undeniably beautiful, but there are threats nearby (including carnivores and snakes) that the Price kids haven’t experienced before.
However, those outside threats aren’t first and foremost on the minds of either Cory and Melanie or Mac and Georgia Talbott. There are unsaid problems in both marriages,...

It's game over for The Wilds.
Deadline reports that Prime Video has canceled the buzzy drama after two seasons.
The series burst onto the screen in 2020, landing a speedy renewal and rave reviews.
As the first YA series on the streaming service, it broke through in a way many shows that followed it did not.
However, the second season premiered in May, failing to reach its predecessor's success.
Season 2 of The Wilds continued to follow the harrowing ordeal of a group of teenage girls stranded on a deserted island, and they didn't end up there by accident - they've secretly been recruited into an elaborate social experiment.
The season ratchets up the drama by revealing that the girls aren't the only ones being studied... there's a new set of subjects, an island of teenage boys, who must also fight for survival under the watchful eye of the experiment's puppet master.

Exclusive: Prime Video’s The Wilds will not return for a third season. I hear the cast and crew of the YA survival drama were just told about the decision, which comes almost three months after Season 2 was released May 6.
