Shirin Yamolky

Shirin Yamolky is a self taught artist, born in the Kurdish region of Northern Iraq.
Shirin and her family were forced to flee Kurdistan in 1993 during Saddam Hussein's persecution of the Kurdish people, eventually settling in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1995.
With just $20 in her pocket, Shirin quit her job at Falafel King, Vancouver and started a new life in Calgary, Alberta in 1999.
