Ariana Longley is a Toronto based content creator and filmmaker. She started her film journey at age 7 holding the unofficial, self proclaimed title of most director's commentaries watched by any child in the history of the world...ever. Years later, her love of filmmaking continues to shape the trajectory of her life.
Ariana has a passion for exploring the human experience and media's influence on behaviour. In 2017, while completing her Master's of science in evolutionary ecology and working as a science communicator for the University of Guelph, Ariana started her successful YouTube channel, Ariana Alexis, where she combines her research, analytical, and creative skills to write, produce, and edit academic style video essays exploring pop culture and cultural issues.
Outside of YouTube, Ariana has acted as a digital media content coordinator for a feature documentary entitled 'Youth Unstoppable' (produced by Scythia Films), production coordinated for a queer CBC competition web series, has been a director's assistant on Disney, Netflix, and CBC projects for critically acclaimed filmmakers, and has developed education content and curriculum for non-profit organizations.
Ariana is directing and producing an independent feature documentary entitled Guerilla and the Bear exploring the historic influence of The Guerilla, a Toronto based 1970s Underground Newspaper, and uncovering her long lost grandfather through his writings in the paper.
