Jim Townsend has been active as an International Film and Television Producer for the past thirty years. He has filmed in multiple locations in the United States and Canada along with Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, Venezuela, The French Rivera, Mexico and Cuba. He is a member of the Directors Guild, Screen Actors Guild and I.A.T.S.E.
Born in Upstate New York, Mr. Townsend received his B.A. in Theatre Arts from St. Lawrence University. He attended the University on wrestling scholarship and competed for four years on their nationally ranked team. In 1983, Mr. Townsend moved to California to pursue a career in the film industry. He started as an actor and appeared in numerous television shows which included "Days of Our Lives", "Knot's Landing", "Scarecrow and Mrs. King", "Falcon Crest", "Quantum Leap" and "The Wonder Years". He has appeared in commercials for 7-UP, IBM, Toyota, Radio Shack and Old Milwaukee Beer.
In 1993, Mr. Townsend began his Producing career by joining Titan Entertainment Group as Senior Vice President of Production and has acted as a Producer on all projects developed and produced by the Company. The responsibilities performed by Mr. Townsend have included all aspects of pre-production, production and post-production. In 2016 the company changed its name to Sherwood Media Company.
Jim's most recent projects as an executive producer were "Paradise Inc", a TV pilot shot on location in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil staring Harvey Keitel and "Devils Junction" filmed on location in Detroit, Michigan. Previous projects included the award winning "Supermodels in the Rainforest Documentary Series" starring Tyra Banks, feature films "Savage Land" starring Graham Greene and Corbin Bernsen, "The Road Home" starring Mickey Rooney, Danny Aiello and Kris Kristofferson, the Television Series "Dream Team" starring Roger Moore and Martin Sheen, the feature film "Blonde & Blonder" starring Pam Anderson and Denise Richards and a documentary series filmed in the Cuba to name a few.
Jim is currently in active development and pre-production on numerous Film and Television projects scheduled to be produced in 2024-25 which include the feature films, "A Coaches Journey" and "Will to Win", the true story of cancer survivor Jeff Blatnick who went on against all odds to win a Gold medal in the 1984 Olympic Games in Wrestling. Also planned for 2024 is the feature film "Lowell Park," set in Dixon, Illinois, sophomore college student Jennifer Brix is accidentally thrown in the past where she meets a handsome young lifeguard named Ronald Reagan.
