TriStar plant ein Biopic über Boy George, Sänger der 1980er Jahre Kultband Culture Club, und hat mit J.C. Lee aktuell einen Drehbuchautor verpflichtet. Wie US-Branchenmedien berichten, wird Lee das Script auf der Basis von Boy Georges Autobiografien „Take It Like A Man“, „Straight“ und „Karma“ schreiben und sich dabei auf die erfolgreichen Jahre von Culture Club konzentrieren. Wer Regie führen soll, steht noch nicht fest.

Als Produzenten des Biopics fungieren Cathy Schulman, Paul Kemsley, der Manager von Boy George, Jeremy M. Rosen und Kevin King Templeton. Boy George selbst wird als Executive Producer an Bord sein.

Deadline is now reporting that a Boy George biopic is now in development over at TriStar. It’s still in the early stages, but the movie is set to be written by scribe J.C. Lee, who co-wrote the film adaptation of his own play Luce.

50 Cent was so "powerful" while filming 'Expendables 4' he accidentally dislocated a stunt performer's finger. Stunt co-ordinator Alan Ng has compared the rapper and actor to a "tank" after he showed his strength during one scene when she was only supposed to barge a stuntman, but ended up dislocating their digit by mistake. The Expendables III concluded with new blood joining the team. Now, even newer blood will form the small group of mercenaries that originated in the 2010 film, The Expendables, which starred action legends Sylvester Stallone, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, with appearances by Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis. Then rising action star Jason Statham played the right-hand man to Stallone’s Barney Ross, Lee Christmas. Statham gets promoted to the star in this entry, although Stallone will still make an appearance. Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren and Randy Couture will return following their previous involvement in the first three movies. Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, Megan Fox and Tony Jaa are newcomers to the fourth.

The first “Expendables” film was released in 2010 and directed by Stallone. It was a commercial success, grossing $274 million worldwide. Its sequel, “The Expendables 2,” was released in 2012, and a third film was released in 2014. The films have grossed $804 million globally.

The Boy George biopic formerly set up at MGM has landed at Millennium Media

Sacha Gervasi is directing Karma Chameleon, which will explore George’s beginnings in an Irish working-class family, through his rise to chart-topper with 1980s pop sensations Culture Club.

George announed on Twitter that a global search is underway for the actor to play him. The casting director is Kate Ringsell.

Millennium Media will finance and is producing alongside Templeton Media and Portobello Electric. Production is set for London and around the world.

Previously announced producers include Kevin King Templeton for Templeton Media and Paul Kemsley.

The classic rock biopic craze continues with MGM, which is producing a film based on Culture Club frontman Boy George.

Boy George, one of the most recognizable faces from the 1980s, is the next music icon to get swept up in the film industry’s classic rock biopic wave. Indeed, in the spirit of the Oscars-dominating Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, and the buzz-generating Elton John biopic, Rocketman (which hits theaters this weekend), the ostentatiously gender-bending frontman of Culture Club is getting a big screen portrayal of his own from a major studio.

The Boy George biopic, currently untitled, is in the works at MGM, which will produce the film, reports Deadline. The studio has already found its creative fulcrum in Sacha Gervasi, who will serve as director and writer, joined by producers Kevin King Templeton (Creed) and Paul Kemsley, as well as executive producers George and Jessica de Rothschild.

Culture Club is coming to the big screen, as MGM is set to produce a feature musical biopic about the life of singer-songwriter Boy George, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

The fifth installment of the “Rambo” franchise, “Rambo: Last Blood,” will hit theaters on Sept. 20 — 37 years after the series launched with “First Blood.”

The story centers on Sylvester Stallone’s John Rambo crossing into Mexico and taking on a violent cartel when the daughter of one of his friends is kidnapped. “Rambo: Last Blood” also stars Paz Vega, Sergio Peris-Mencheta and Yvette Monreal. Adrian Goldberg is directing from a screenplay by Stallone and Matthew Cirulnick. Stallone, who was 36 when the first film premiered, will be 73 at “Last Blood’s” release.

“Rambo: Last Blood” was shot in Bulgaria, and follows “First Blood,” “Rambo: First Blood Part II” (1985), “Rambo III” (1988) and “Rambo” (2008). Producers are Kevin King Templeton and Les Weldon.

The four Rambo films have grossed a combined $728 million in worldwide box office, led by $300 million for “Rambo: First Blood Part II.”

Standing atop the Philadelphia Art Museum’s iconic steps, Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter proclaimed Wednesday, November 25 “Creed” Day in honor of the upcoming film – opening that same day – which explores the next chapter in the “Rocky” saga.

Creed stars Sylvester Stallone, Michael B. Jordan and Tessa Thompson joined Mayor Nutter on Friday to receive the official proclamation. The film’s writer/director, Ryan Coogler, and producer Irwin Winkler were also on hand.

The film, which brings Rocky Balboa face-to-face with the son of his one-time rival and best friend, Apollo Creed, was shot in and around the City of Brotherly Love. The museum steps, and the statue of Rocky that stands at the bottom of them, can, in fact, be seen in Creed.

Mayor Nutter also gifted the team from Creed with individually inscribed miniature Liberty Bells to mark the occasion; they, in turn, presented the mayor with a framed rendering of the mural,...

Michael B. Jordan is Adonis Johnson and Sylvester Stallone is Rocky Balboa in Warner Bros. Pictures’, New Line Cinema and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Pictures’ drama Creed.

The original Rocky was released in December 1976. The film, made on a budget of just over $1 million and shot in 28 days, was a sleeper hit; it earned $225 million in global box office receipts becoming the highest grossing film of 1976 and went on to win three Oscars, including Best Picture. It is still one of the greatest Best Picture wins in Academy history!

In addition to the series of films, there was also a Broadway musical – Rocky Broadway.

MGM’s Rocky spinoff pic, Creed, has finally cast its leading lady in the shape of Tessa Thompson. The actress is currently on a winning streak this year, after accruing critical acclaim for her turn in heavyweight drama Selma and bagging a Gotham award for her part in Dear White People. Now that she’s boarded the boxing pic, she’ll be entering the ring with another noted rising star.

Reuniting with his Fruitvale Station director Ryan Coogler for the movie is leading man Michael B. Jordan. He is locked in to take on the part of Apollo Creed’s grandson alongside the titular star of the original series, Sylvester Stallone. With Jordan’s character in training with the older, more wizened Rocky, it’s thought that project newcomer Thompson will play his love interest. But who knows, maybe they’ll meet in a co-ed punch-up?

Exclusive: MGM’s Rocky spinoff Creed has found its female lead in Tessa Thompson, the actress who broke out this year in the Sundance hit Dear White People and also can be seen in Ava DuVernay’s upcoming Oscar contender Selma.

Thompson will star opposite Sylvester Stallone and Michael B. Jordan in the film from Fruitvale Station‘s Ryan Coogler, which will see Stallone reprise his iconic character Rocky Balboa, now a trainer and mentor to the grandson (Jordan) of his boxing bestie Apollo Creed.

Coogler, who scripted with Aaron Covington, teamed with Stallone to pitch the project to MGM and is helming it as his follow-up to his Cannes-, Gotham- and Spirit Award-winning 2013 debut Fruitvale Station. Original Rocky producers Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff are producing alongside Stallone and Kevin King.

Lionsgate top brass announced on Tuesday (8) that the latest episode in the action series will premiere in the UK on August 4.

Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Dolph Lundgren return to the fray with cast regulars Jet Li, Randy Couture and Terry Crews.

The action includes Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz, Kelsey Grammer, Mma star Ronda Rousey, welterweight boxing champion Victor Ortiz and Glen Powell.

The Expendables 3 will open in the UK through Lionsgate UK on August 14. It arrives in the Us on August 15 and opens across most of the world on the same weekend.

Rowling revealed that she made a mistake by having Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley end up together at the conclusion of the series, calling the pairing "a form of wish fulfillment." Realzing that she might be "breaking people's hearts" by saying that, Rowling apologized to the fans, but said that Hermione should have married the title hero instead.

I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I’m absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people’s hearts by saying this? I hope not.
