Musical biopics have picked up in activity as of late. Recently, the Bob Marley movie One Love encapsulated a notable story from the Raggae icon’s life. This year has seen the release of Back to Black, which told the story of Amy Winehouse. And this Christmas will see the premiere of A Complete Unknown, which brings James Mangold back to the music world with Timothée Chalamet occupying the shoes of Bob Dylan. Not to mention, in the future, we’re getting a Bruce Springsteen film with Jeremy Allen White as The Boss, and Sam Mendes is bringing The Beatles’ story to theaters across four feature films.
Deadline is now reporting that a Boy George biopic is now in development over at TriStar. It’s still in the early stages, but the movie is set to be written by scribe J.C. Lee, who co-wrote the film adaptation of his own play Luce.

The classic rock biopic craze continues with MGM, which is producing a film based on Culture Club frontman Boy George.
Boy George, one of the most recognizable faces from the 1980s, is the next music icon to get swept up in the film industry’s classic rock biopic wave. Indeed, in the spirit of the Oscars-dominating Freddie Mercury biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, and the buzz-generating Elton John biopic, Rocketman (which hits theaters this weekend), the ostentatiously gender-bending frontman of Culture Club is getting a big screen portrayal of his own from a major studio.
The Boy George biopic, currently untitled, is in the works at MGM, which will produce the film, reports Deadline. The studio has already found its creative fulcrum in Sacha Gervasi, who will serve as director and writer, joined by producers Kevin King Templeton (Creed) and Paul Kemsley, as well as executive producers George and Jessica de Rothschild.

Rising writer-director Ryan Coogler's "Creed" opened on awards-friendly November 25. His take on the "Rocky" franchise and the seventh film in the series is already a popular hit, at $87 million domestic and counting. The project dates back to July 2013 when, just as Coogler's debut "Fruitvale Station" hit theaters after touted premieres at Sundance and Cannes, MGM tapped Coogler, now 29, to direct the film and co-write with Aaron Covington. None of this would have happened if Coogler had not been able to convince writer-director-actor Sylvester Stallone to let him develop this reprise of Rocky Balboa, a character that he created almost 40 years ago. "Creed" is produced by Irwin Winkler and Robert Chartoff, who produced the original 1976 Best Picture-winning "Rocky," Stallone and Kevin King Templeton. Now it looks like Stallone has a shot at a supporting actor Oscar nomination, which would mark his first since...

MGM’s Rocky spinoff pic, Creed, has finally cast its leading lady in the shape of Tessa Thompson. Pottermore In a new interview conducted by Emma Watson for Wonderland, Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling revealed that she made a mistake by having Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley end up together at the conclusion of the series, calling the pairing "a form of wish fulfillment." Realzing that she might be "breaking people's hearts" by saying that, Rowling apologized to the fans, but said that Hermione should have married the title hero instead.

Watson, who played Hermione in the WB-produced movies based on the books, agreed with Rowling and said that many fans will too.

Robert Luketic ("The Ugly Truth," "Killers," "21") has come aboard to direct "The ExpendaBelles," the female counterpart to the Millennium Films franchise "The Expendables".
The story follows an elite group of highly trained female mercenaries brought together for a covert hostage rescue mission. Once behind enemy lines, they discover that they will also need to topple an evil dictator bent on world domination.
No casting is yet set despite a bunch of rumored names including Meryl Streep, Cameron Diaz and Milla Jovovich.
This re-teams Luketic with his "Legally Blonde" scribes Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah who've penned the female action comedy spinoff. Sylvester Stallone and Kevin King will produce and shooting is slated to begin this Summer.
