Walter Lab

Walter Lab is a painter / designer living in Southern California and
Massachusetts Mr. Lab studied painting, performance and art criticism
at the University of California, San Diego and at the University of
Montana. His most recent painting exhibition was at the Nevada Museum
of Art. Simultaneous to his activities in the fine arts, Mr. Lab
practiced stage craft for sixteen years in the Los Angeles film
industry (1983-1999) as the Scenic Art Department principle, providing
leadership for more than 50 film and television productions.
Administrating crews upward of 25 people, Mr. Lab worked closely with
all departments to implement design concerns and to resolve budgetary,
logistical and scheduling issues. Mr. Lab has knowledge of all aspects
of the scenic arts and is able to clearly articulate his experience in
themed entertainment, feature and commercial film. Mr. Lab has rendered
sets in rural and urban environments, on stage, on location, in the
U.S. and abroad. In 1999 he founded ArtLab: Ornament & Implication,
producing client specific murals and Tromp L' Oeil architectural
ornamentation for high-end residential and corporate clients. In 2008 Lab joined the design group, Sky Drops Inc.
International. SDI was a full service scenic painting company that
established a 25 year history of professional service in entertainment,
feature and commercial film in both domestic and foreign markets. SDI's
small group of associates delivered consultation and design services,
on site creative direction, site supervision and scenic solutions for
shopping malls, casino's, convention centers, hotels, film sets and
high end residential venues. Their most recent overhead sky painting
measures 6 acres and was painted for The Venetian Cotai in Macau China
with Sky Art Karen Kristin (Macau) LTD and Luen Yick Tai Construction
(Macau) LTD. Sky Drops Inc. International was formally disbanded in
2012.
