- Designed all the T-shirts his character "Howling Mad" Murdock wore on The A-Team (1983) and called it his consistent contribution to the series.
- Dwight Schultz was cast in the recurring role of Reginald Barclay as the result of co-starring with Whoopi Goldberg in the movie The Long Walk Home (1990). While working on the movie, Schultz asked Goldberg to pass on his request to make an appearance on Star Trek: The Next Generation (1987).
- Upon meeting George Peppard the first time when The A-Team (1983) was beginning, he respectfully introduced himself to Peppard as Dwight Schultz. Peppard's reply was "Very good. I'm George Peppard, and I'm not a very nice man.".
