David Cary Schramm was the son of the late astrophysicist David Norman
Schramm, of the University of Chicago, a world-renowned expert in cosmology, who died while piloting a small airplane in 1997. David Cary Schramm studied art at Boston University before moving to Los Angeles to pursue his career. He died at the age of 37 on October 9, 2001. An obituary appeared in the
Chicago Tribune a week later. There was no mention of the cause of his
death.
