- Briefly played professional baseball and originally planned on being a sports journalist.

In The Late Shift (1996), he was an executive for NBC West Coast television operations and, in Private Parts (1997), he was an executive for NBC's New York station.

- Made his reputation as an actor in off-Broadway revues in which he specialized in portraying oddball characters. He appeared onstage in 'The Mad Show' (from the folks behind Mad Magazine) alongside, among others, Jo Anne Worley and Linda Lavin. He also wrote the off-Broadway play, 'Raisin' Hell in the Son', which premiered in 1962.
