She was born in Iran and attended the Jeanne D'Arc French School in Tehran prior to the 1979 revolution, which overthrew the dictator shah and replaced him by an Islamic autocracy. She was influenced by the language and French culture and also drawn to the arts. She and her parents moved to Belgium when she was twelve years old where she subsequently studied journalism and translation. She founded a company called Celluloid Dealers in 1985, which was subsequently changed to Celluloid Dreams. She moved to Paris in 1993 and has been operating the company out of that base since.
