Final Fantasy XVI works because of its desire to push the series in a new direction, influenced by all kinds of western media, while still celebrating its own quirky spirit. It doesn’t reinvent or subvert its original concepts — there are still crystals, chocobos, and scenery chewing villains — but it trades anime tropes and modernist sci-fi saga for a medieval, gothic fantasy built on the relationship between light and dark (emphasis on the dark). The most mature entry the series has ever seen, it delivers a ruthless and deeply personal...

Tom Hanks has become such a universal actor that you just can expect him to play any role and know that you’ll be entertained - even if one of those roles calls for him to pop a giant cyst growing on his spine. Blood and vomit aside, Tom Hanks shines in A Hologram for the King, a film directed by Tom Tykwer, who also directed Hanks in Cloud Atlas. The film, also starring Sarita Choudhury and Alexander Black, follows Alan Clay (Hanks) as he travels to Saudi Arabia to sell the king hologram technology.
The film remarkably combines excellent visuals with a depressingly lonely story of Alan, almost akin to Lost in Translation. What is so remarkable about the film, however, is that it has no agenda in trying to compare and contrast Saudi Arabia from Alan’s American culture; but rather, we see the world through Alan’s...

Breaking the fourth wall with relative ease, Tom Hanks’ astute businessman headlines the first full trailer for A Hologram for the King – “Sometimes you have to change your scenery… to change your life.”
And that’s exactly what Hanks’ lead does. Playing up the fish-out-of-water dynamic, today’s English-language snippet ships our lead character off to Saudi Arabia in order to negotiate a lucrative deal. Meeting with a wealthy monarch, the idea is to pitch a technology that would allow for, well, A Hologram for the King.
Reuniting with Cloud Atlas director Tom Tykwer – he co-directed the time-spanning adaptation alongside the Wachowski siblings – Tom Hanks’ latest is a far cry from sprawling science fiction. Mind you, it’s a fellow adaptation, this time lifted from Dave Eggers’ novel of the same name.
Putting a comfortable life behind him and diving into the harsh world of international commerce, Hanks will be...

Fresh off negotiating a deal to rescue a captured ally in Steven Spielberg’s wartime drama Bridge of Spies, Tom Hank’s next role will have the Oscar-winner make tracks to Saudi Arabia, where his hapless Alan Clay will negotiate a decidedly different set of deals in A Hologram For the King.
Reteaming with his Cloud Atlas helmer Tom Tykwer – he co-directed the time-spanning adaptation alongside the Wachowski siblings – the German filmmaker’s latest adaptation also represents a change of pace from David Mitchell’s sprawling sci-fi insofar as A Hologram For the King is rooted in the harsh reality of international commerce.
Headlining the feature as Alan Clay, it is Tom Hanks who stars as the washed-up business in desperate need to close a lucrative It contract. Should pen meet paper, it’ll pave the way for a huge new complex to begin construction out in the Saudi Arabia desert.

Over the years, there have been several - mostly unsuccessful - attempts to bring back Thunderbirds.
However, where others failed, Thunderbirds Are Go! looks set to succeed.
Debuting 50 years after the original series first aired, Digital Spy sat down with the cast to talk comparisons to 24, why the show is "the opposite of naff" - and why fans of the original will be happy to see this incarnation of International Rescue back at work.
Lady Penelope - Rosamund Pike
"It was an easy 'yes' as soon as ITV asked me to voice Lady Penelope. It was a huge compliment and I knew it would be a very exciting adventure.
"Exploring the scenes with David Graham has been an absolute delight. The scripts are very modern, very fresh and very funny. I love working with him, and the bond between Parker and Penelope and the humour that is batted between them is really fun to play.

The upcoming new Thunderbird Are Go! series looks like it has potential to be something cool that fans will enjoy. Everything that's been released so far has looked really cool, but today we bring you one of the best things that I've seen yet. It's a video tour of the locations that will be used in the series, and the detail is stunning.
What makes these so awesome is the fact that they are practical physical miniature sets that were built by the talented wizards over at Weta Workshop. The sets include the Tracy brothers’ island base and several other locations. You can get your first look at the Tracy brothers in the series here.

Below you will find some additional details on the upcoming series. I'm kinda excited to see how this turns out!

The first image of the brand new Tracy brothers from the upcoming Thunderbirds reboot was released earlier today (January 15).
As it turned out, the reaction was less than Fab, with many fans of the original series sharing their views on Twitter. Boyband comparisons and terrifying death stares are among the most noted complaints so far.
Here are just a few reactions from Gerry Anderson fans old and new:
It's called Thunderbirds, not Thunderblokes

So, the new #Thunderbirds are basically One Direction as Power Rangers? http://t.co/z9MjEBqfFe pic.twitter.com/ihIxvXBbqX
— Christopher Allen (@chris_allen) January 15, 2015
And I thought that Busted song was the biggest insult to Thunderbirds. These new Tracy Brothers make me want to vomit.
— Daniel Sperling (@dan_sperling) January 15, 2015
As creepy as they are, the new CGI Thunderbirds somehow look even more human than most of the Tory frontbench. pic.

Remember the British TV series from the 1960s, Thunderbirds? The puppet, action, sci-fi epic series holds a special place in the heart of a certain generation and now the folks from ITV Studios are hoping for it to catch on with an all-new audience. The series is going to be relaunched in 2015, with the name Thunderbirds Are Go, and they've tapped Weta to handle the effects for the update- which will use a combination of miniature sets and CG characters. The original was filmed using a technique that creator Gerry Anderson called Super Mario Nation (I like that!)...oh wait, I'm sorry. That's Supermarionation.

amz asin="B00CS303U4" size="small"I hadn't even realized Tom Hanks had decided to reteam with his Cloud Atlas director Tom Tykwer, but today the first picture from their collaboration on the adaptation of Dave Eggers' A Hologram for the King has premiered, featuring Hanks in the story of a washed-up, desperate American salesman who travels to Saudi Arabia to secure the It contract for a massive new complex being built in the middle of the desert. The last time Tom Hanks teamed up with Tom Tykwer, it was alongside The Wachowskis for an adaptation of David Mitchell's acclaimed "Cloud Atlas." Well, Hanks clearly liked working with Tykwer, and now the fruits of their second collaboration, also based on a well-received novel, are finally seeing the light. THR has debuted the first image from "A Hologram For The King," based on the book by Dave Eggers. Hanks is the biggest name in the cast that features Sarita Choudhury, Omar Elba, Tracey Fairaway, David Menkin and Tom Skerritt, with the dramedy following a desperate American salesman who heads to Saudi Arabia to land a lucrative It contract. Presumably cultures will clash, and this seemingly fish-out-of-water tale looks perfect for Hanks' sensibility so we're curious to see how it turns out. No word yet on release dates or anything like that, so this image will have to suffice for now.

Shooting started in Morocco today on the comedic drama A Hologram For The King, which is being directed by Tom Tykwer (“Cloud Atlas”, “Perfume”), who also adapted the script from the eponymous novel by Dave Eggers.
The independently-financed production stars Tom Hanks. A Hologram For The King reunites Hanks, Tykwer, Schott, and Arndt after working together on Cloud Atlas, which has grossed over $130 million globally.
The picture takes place far away from the recession-weary USA, as an up-and-coming Saudi Arabian city provides the backdrop for foundering American businessman Alan Clay’s (Tom Hanks) last-ditch effort to stave off bankruptcy, pay his daughter’s college fees, and finally accomplish something big. A Hologram For The King is a gentle, crazy, wistful ballad recounting the journey of a man, who has lost almost everything, to a country that requires him to rise to completely unknown challenges – and that answers old questions in new and unexpected ways.

"I'm very excited to bring Lady Penelope's wry wit and taste for adventure to a new generation," said Pike. "Exploring the scenes with David Graham has been an absolute delight.
