Born and raised in California, Dean Mason is the only child of Jerry
and Esther Mason, he has three children and resides in Tarzana Ca.
Dean attended school at El Rodeo Elementary school, Birmingham High School, finishing his education at Pierce College.
Dean in the early 1970's, played guitar professionally in such bands as "After The Rain", and "The Joint Effort".
In 1974 / 1975, Dean was employed as an on air disc-jockey/news-person for KIIS radio in the Los Angeles area.
Also in 1975, he joined the movie industry working as a dispatcher and planner at 20th Century Fox studios for the next three years. He then moved on to head the transportation department on various television and feature film productions at Sony, 20th Century Fox, and CBS.
In 1980, he took two years off and expanded his interests by teaching himself how to become proficient with various 35mm cameras, ultimately creating and founding a company that filmed custom "AM Stock Exchange" shots for several television films including "LA Law", the "Gunsmoke" M.O.W.'s and various feature films. He sold his interests in the company at the end of 1982.
He returned to the transportation department in 1982 and continued his work in that field until his official retirement in 2003.
In 2004 he began directing and editing documentaries for independent producers, which he still does.
