Michael J Gaffey has been involved in the motion picture and television industry since 1999, serving in a variety of production crew, accounting and financial analyst positions in both independent and studio realms. Upon his return as a 'runner' at Ardmore Studios in Bray Ireland, he worked on a variety independent feature productions in the greater Boston area.
In 2003, he moved to Los Angeles and utilized his BS in Business Administration degree from UVM and banking & credit union skills to land as a Participations Accountant at Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Since 2005, he has alternated between freelance productions as the accountant and full time (and/or contracted) employment as an analyst, including Entertainment Partners, Lionsgate and Universal Music Group.
In 2009, he began improv training and performing with the Los Angeles Comedy Connection. In 2011, he graduated "The Second City" conservatory program in Hollywood, learning group writing, music composition and assembling & performing in their "Sketch to Kill" show. He produced and starred in several comedic web shorts (e.g. "Sodabition").
Utilizing his improv training and writer experiences, he has refined a variety of genre feature screenplays. In 2011 after several visits to Maui, he focused on the Hawaii culture. In 2014, he moved to Maui to immerse himself in the society and their rich Polynesian culture.
In 2015, Rothar Entertainment was started to create the timeless media that educates, entertains and profits.
Michael is writing and developing additional Hawaiian feature films and a Polynesian fantasy drama television series.
