After three seasons, it should be easier to cast the kids of ABC’s “Abbott Elementary,” but Emmy-nominated casting director Wendy O’Brien says that the show’s popularity has made it tougher.

“It’s a struggle to find and vet young actors that don’t have a lot of experience. Especially when you’re talking about a kindergarten class,” admits O’Brien, who took home the gold two years ago for the same show.

While a 5-or 6-year-old might not have much acting experience under their belt, O’Brien says the upside to the series and its success is that she has seen an uptick in the number of kids being submitted for her consideration.

“A lot of them are auditioning in nice blue collared shirts, already in character. We’re definitely seeing more newcomers trying out,” she says.

“Death and Other Details” has been canceled after just one season at Hulu, Variety has confirmed.

The news comes a little over three weeks after the Season 1 finale, which debuted on March 5. The cast included Violett Beane, Mandy Patinkin, Lauren Patten, Rahul Kohli, Angela Zhou, Hugo Diego Garcia, Pardis Saremi, and Linda Emond.

The official description of the series stated, “Set amidst the glamor of the global elite, ‘Death and Other Details’ centers on the brilliant and restless Imogene Scott (Beane), who finds herself in the wrong place/wrong time and becomes the prime suspect in a locked room murder mystery. “Memory is a motherfucker,” detective Rufus Cotesworth (Mandy Patinkin) declares in Hulu’s Death and Other Details. Humans, he means, are prone to accidental forgetfulness, self-indulgence, and, on occasion, trauma-driven memory loss. How, then, will Rufus, the so-called “World’s Greatest Detective,” crack a case that relies on both his own and witnesses’ memories over the last 20 years?

The inciting incident is the murder of entitled richling Keith Trubitsky (Michael Gladis) aboard a luxury ocean liner, establishing an Agatha Christie-style closed circle of suspects, as the killer must be on the ship. Trubitsky, it turns out, was invited as a friend of the Colliers, whose family business is on the brink of financial ruin. They chartered the boat as a last-ditch attempt to schmooze potential investors, the Chun family, who’ve hired Rufus to do due diligence.

Rufus has his own agenda: to finally solve the 20-year-old murder case of the Colliers’ former assistant.

Murder mystery drama Death And Other Details is heading to Disney – and the show even has a new trailer! Have a gander within.

Michael Weiss has been a producer and screenwriter on many successful shows, including Chicago P.D, The Mentalist and the terrific Cobie Smulders private eye comedy drama Stumptown, which sadly only ran for a single series but is well worth watching. It’s currently streaming on Disney .

Weiss is now co-showrunner of Death And Other Details, a murder mystery drama series heading to Hulu in the US and Disney in other territories, including the UK. It looks like a cross between Death On The Nile and The White Lotus, which is a pretty good hybrid if you ask us.

Career Opportunities in Murder and Mayhem starring Emmy winner Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) and Violett Beane (God Friended Me) has a new title and a premiere date. Fall TV is about to get pinched. The ongoing SAG and WGA strikes have, as intended, disrupted an industry in need of disruption. Some series are being delayed. Others have been pushed off the calendar entirely. Even with what we will see in the coming months, the AMPTP’s greed is forcing a workforce that loves a hot mic to keep quiet about the shows they make possible. While it’s nothing compared to the highway robbery Hollywood executives are trying to get away with when it comes to not paying talent, audiences are still about to lose out on something special.

“Only Murders in the Building”? More like only murders in the theater. Hulu finally dropped the Season 3 trailer of the murder mystery on Wednesday, giving us a glimpse of Meryl Streep and more Paul Rudd in action.

Season 3 finds Charles (Steve Martin), Oliver (Martin Short) and Mabel (Selena Gomez) investigating the death of Ben Glenroy (Rudd), an actor in Oliver’s play “Death Rattle,” co-starring Charles, who collapsed on stage on opening night in the final moments of the Season 2 finale.

“My show is hanging by a thread here,” Oliver tells Mabel in the trailer. “Finding this killer is the only way you’ll have a show,” she replies.

Season 2 of Hulu’s hit comedy series Only Murders in the Building racked up 11 Emmy Award nominations on Wednesday including Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy for Martin Short, Outstanding Guest Actor Nathan Lane and Outstanding Comedy Series—all 3 were nominated in the same category in 2022.

John Hoffman, who co-created the series with Steve Martin, has 4 Emmy wins and a total of 19 nominations, the latest for writing the episode “I Know Who Did It.” Nathan Lane has a total of 8 nominations and one win. Both spoke to Deadline about how they’re celebrating and what we can expect from Season 3.
