Steven Spielberg only had this James Bond actor in mind to play the father of Indiana Jones, Henry Jones, in the third Indy film, The Last Crusade. George Lucas imagined Laurence Olivier for the role, which was initially written to be a more serious one. However, Spielberg wanted to cast Sean Connery in the role and try to outdo his James Bond role.

Connery was initially hesitant to take on the role as he was done with franchise roles after the 007 stint. He signed on to the film after Spielberg agreed to make his character a match for his son. Connery even went on to do a famous ad-lib that was hilarious and a little disturbing at the same time.

Steven Spielberg had only one actor in mind to play the role of Harrison Ford’s dad role, an eccentric medieval literature professor, in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Spielberg was a fan of Sean Connery’s work in James Bond films. Connery initially turned down the role as he didn’t want to play any more franchise roles after Bond. However, he went on to have a lot of fun in the role.

Ford and Connery faced a few problems on set and the Murder on the Orient Express actor had a particularly creative solution for one problem. The film was one of the well-received films in the franchise, with particular praise for its humor, emotional themes, and Ford & Connery’s performances.

While Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade have several important aspects attributing to the success of the film, one iconic moment from the movie that became a beloved piece of cinematic history was apparently improvised. The scene took place between Harrison Ford and Sean Connery, where the latter ad-libbed a line, which was so hilarious that Steven Spielberg chose to keep it in the final cut.

Before Blu-ray or DVD, before you could just open up an app on your phone and stream things, there was the beloved VHS tape, that most bulky of physical media. Whether you rented them from Blockbuster, owned a library of them and organized them neatly in the shelves running alongside your home entertainment center, used them to record your favorite movies or TV shows, or simply prayed for your teacher to pull one out on a Friday afternoon in middle school, the VHS tape was king of ’80s and ’90s home media.
There was simply nothing better than the experience that came with popping one of these bad boys into your Vcr — unless the film was a stinker, of course, but then again, you probably still at least remember watching it, unlike so much of the mindless filler on today’s streamers. In fact, let’s take a stroll down...

With the release of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" in 2023, Lucasfilm and Hasbro took advantage of the titular adventurer's return to dig back into the history of the beloved franchise with a new collection of toys. Hasbro's Adventure Series action figures would finally give us the detailed yet affordable collectible versions of the characters we've loved in (almost) all of the "Indiana Jones" movies, from "Raiders of the Lost Ark" to "Temple of Doom" to "The Last Crusade."
After the first wave threw it back to "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and the second wave dug into "Temple of Doom" with a little bit of "Dial of Destiny," the third and seemingly final wave of Indiana Jones Adventure Series action figures arrived at "The Last Crusade" and included a couple more "Dial of Destiny" figures for good measure.

Every few years, a film comes along that takes Hollywood by surprise, earning acclaim and shooting its stars to sudden fame. In 2022, that film was Rrr, an Indian Telugu-language epic action film directed by S. S. Rajamouli.
Weaving elements of historical fiction, buddy comedies, and classic action-adventure films, Rrr made waves upon its release, going on to become the second non-English-language-film-ever to make it to the National Board of Review’s best films of the year list in 2022. It also became a hit on Netflix, finding a global audience who appreciated the film’s themes and structure. In the wake of Rrr‘s success, a sequel has reportedly been greenlit, and fans are curious about what might be included in the brand-new flick.

When it comes to the female companion characters of the "Indiana Jones" franchise, Karen Allen's Marion Ravenwood stands above the rest. After her debut in "Raiders of the Lost Ark," Marion has returned for two other adventures — "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull," and the recent "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny."
Even before "Dial of Destiny" came out, Indy himself, Harrison Ford, made it clear that this would be his last time playing the part of the globe-trotting, whip-cracking archeologist. And based on the less-than-stellar box office returns for "Dial of Destiny," it's unlikely Disney is going to be rushing to make another Indiana Jones movie anytime soon. But while Ford has hung up his hat and whip, Allen isn't quite ready to say goodbye to Marion just yet.

“Delirious” is the word to describe S.S. Rajamouli’s Indian action-adventure film that has become a worldwide phenomenon both in theaters and on Netflix since its summer release.
This Telugu-language big-budget spectacle starring Tollywood superstars N.T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan as revolutionaries fighting against the British Raj in 1920 features the sort of dizzyingly over-the-top action sequences and exuberant musical numbers that send audiences into a frenzy. Wildly entertaining for every minute of its three hour-plus running time, Rrr has become one of India’s highest-grossing films of all time and is now generating Oscar buzz.
Although the central characters are based on real-life historical figures, Rrr (the title stands for “Rise, Roar, Revolt”) is strictly fictional, as one of the most extensive opening disclaimers ever seen onscreen takes pain to emphasize. In the 1960 historical epic Mughal-e-Azam, there comes a radical break in its rolling presentation of power. To woo and celebrate the Mughal Prince Salim, a sculptor is commissioned by one of his suitors to carve a marble statue personifying eros. However, the sculptor, a proud dissident, conjures no simple work of veneration, or even, of marble, but a marvelous trick, like Michelangelo’s Slaves played as a comic gesture. This stone summation of desire turns out to be a flesh-and-blood slave girl, Anarkali, disguised as a statue. This act of artistic subversiveness, of elevating a commoner to a symbolic zenith reserved for royals, gods, and virtues personified, is an omen, foretelling not only the love between the Prince and Anarkali, but how the love between this Muslim royal and a Hindu slave will crack a hierarchy previously thought resolute. To a degree, S.S. Rajamouli is also an iconoclast. Rajamouli is a regionalist director,...

Straight out of Tollywood: “Rrr,” a bigger-than-life and bolder-than-mainstream action-adventure epic, is performing mightily in international release as audiences marvel at its spectacle, embrace its emotions, and sway to its music while being repeatedly gobsmacked by its unfettered audacity. Propelled by the Telugu Cinema triumvirate of superstars N.T. Rama Rao Jr. and Ram Charan and director S.S. Rajamouli — whose combined names are one reason for the triple-consonant title — the movie is such an irresistible and intoxicating celebration of cinematic excess that even after 187 minutes, you are left exhilarated, not exhausted. Which, truth to tell, is hard to say about certain comic-book movies from two major extended universes.
Mind you, the two protagonists here aren’t supposed to be superheroes. In fact, they are flesh-and-blood humans out of Indian history: Komaram Bheem, a revolutionary leader and guerrilla fighter from the Gond tribe during the British Raj; and Alluri Sitarama Raju,...

Rrr
Starring N. T. Rama Rao Jr. , Ram Charan
Written & Directed by S S Rajamouli
There is nothing in Rrr that is not massively massy. Rajamouli’s eye for spectacle is as unerring as the arrows that Ram Charan playing a character called , you guessed it, Ram shoots dressed up as, yes that’s right, Lord Rama.
But that’s a good 2 hours and 45 minutes after the film’s wondrous whirligig has started.
Rrr is three hours of non-stop hecticity. Rajamouli wants every frame to exhale a breath of flushed air. It’s all about size. And those who think otherwise are not familiar with the Rajamouli school of thought. His cinematic vision is many sizes larger than what an average blockbuster builder of Bollywood imagines to be epic in scope.
There are many extraordinary action sequences in Rrr. Come to think of it , Rrr is short of drama and emotions.
