Her relentless push against the tide reveals a tale of anger and grief, yet also of the strength and comfort the ocean provides. The debut film from Belgian director Domien Huyghe deals with the grief of a teenage girl.
LevelK has boarded international rights to Domien Huyghe’s Belgian family feature Sea Sparkle, which will have its world premiere in Berlinale Generation.
The film is about a North Sea fisherman who dies at sea under mysterious circumstances and his teenage daughter who wants to investigate if a sea creature is to blame.
Dries Phlypo and Stephen Vandingenen produce for A Private View, in co-production with Viking Film in The Netherlands. Jean-Claude van Rijckeghem and Wendy Huyghe wrote the script from a story by siblings Wendy and Domien Huyghe.

The Berlin Film Festival has revealed the first tranche of titles for its Panorama and Generation strands.
The Panorama lineup includes films from Ukraine, Yemen and about Iran. Of the 14 films selected, 11 are world premieres. There are new films by Sepideh Farsi, Jennifer Reeder, Tina Satter, Sacha Polak, Malene Choi and Ira Sachs.
The films selected for the Generation Kplus and Generation 14plus competitions include nine shorts and nine features, including 11 world premieres.
Stars featured in titles across the strands include Willem Dafoe, Ben Whishaw, Adèle Exarchopoulous, Leon Dai and Sydney Sweeney.
The festival takes place Feb. 16-26, 2023.
