Former Saturday Night Live cast member Alex Moffat is joining the cast of Off Broadway’s The Big Gay Jamboree, the much-anticipated follow-up from Marla Mindelle, co-author and original star of the wildly popular musical comedy Titaníque.

Moffat will appear alongside the previously announced Mindelle, as well as newly announced Paris Nix, Constantine Rousouli (a Titaníque co-creator and original cast member), and Natalie Walker, with Jaden Dominique, Brad Greer, Jeremiah Ginn, Amanda Lee, Jillian Mueller, Olivia Puckett, Melvin Tunstall, Clyde Voce, Cortney Wolfson, and John Yi rounding out the ensemble.

Prolific author Anthony Horowitz has scripted mystery drama Nine Bodies In A Mexican Morgue, here are the details.

Anthony Horowitz is perhaps best known for creating the Alex Rider franchise, which so far comprises fourteen novels, seven short stories, a critically maligned 2006 film and a popular television drama on Amazon Prime, the third and final series of which aired last month. He has also written many standalone novels and the terrific Horowitz Horror books of horror stories for older children.

However, he is just as prolific writing for the screen, creating the brilliant time travel drama Crime Traveller, which starred Michael French and Red Dwarf star Chloe Annett, ITV drama Foyle’s War and the television adaptation of his novel Magpie Murders.

Also it was announced today that BBC has acquired the series, which is currently shooting in the Canary Islands.

Nine Bodies in a Mexican Morgue revolves around a plane carrying a small group of passengers, crew and pilot, that crashes in the Mexican jungle. All the bodies are recovered and placed in a morgue, but it turns out that only one of them died in the crash.

The Hulu original series from Onyx Collective followed Nella (Sinclair Daniel), an editorial assistant, who is tired of being the only Black girl at her company, Wagner Books. Hulu has canceled the comedy series based on the book of the same name by Zakiya Dalila Harris after a single season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

First put in development in April 2020 before Tara Duncan signed on to serve as president of Disney’s Bipoc-focused studio Onyx Collective, the 10-episode satirical comedy about the publishing world dropped its full season in September to impressive reviews. The series currently has an 86 percent rating among critics on Rotten Tomatoes, though audiences seem to have rejected The Other Black Girl with that score sitting at a lackluster 50 percent among viewers.

Danielle Henderson (Sorry for Your Loss) originally was set to serve as showrunner but was ultimately replaced by Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey. Exec producers on the series included Onyx’s Duncan, Rashida Jones, Temple Hill’s Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, Adam Fishbach and author Harris.

Two of the more anticipated star turns on Broadway this season — Steve Carell making his debut in the Lincoln Center Theater revival of Uncle Vanya and The Sopranos alum Michael Imperioli returning to the New York stage in Circle in the Square’s An Enemy of the People — got no love from Tony Award nominators today, and the West End hit Patriots, written by The Crown‘s Peter Morgan, barely registered on the roster, with only one nom for lead actor Michael Stuhlbarg.

Even more empty-handed than Patriots was The Wiz, the cheery, if rote, revival of the beloved Black retelling of The Wizard of Oz. Despite a star turn by Wayne Brady, it’s possible that Tony nominators saw the Broadway revival for the uninspired road show it is.

Eric McCormack doesn’t believe an actor’s sexuality should get in the way of the characters they play onscreen. The Will & Grace star said this week he feels “the best person for the role” should be cast in all projects, regardless of the actor’s personal identity.

McCormack, who is straight, played protagonist Will, who is gay, on NBC’s beloved Will & Grace. The actor said during a Monday appearance on ITV’s Good Morning Britain reported by Out magazine that “I didn’t become an actor so that I could play an actor.”

“There’s no part I’ve ever played where I wasn’t playing something I’m not,” McCormack continued. “It’s part of the gig. And I’ve always said, if gay actors weren’t allowed to play straight actors, Broadway would be over.”

This summer, SmartLess will officially be part of the Sirius team, joining a number of other podcasts, including James Corden’s own and Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, which is currently available on channel 104. This is a monumental deal for the podcasting world, but it’s not much of a surprise considering just how popular SmartLess has become. André Braugher has died. The two-time Emmy-winning star of series including Homicide: Life on the Street, Men of a Certain Age and Brooklyn Nine-Nine was 61.

Braugher, whose first film role came alongside Matthew Broderick and Denzel Washington in the Ed Zwick-directed Glory, died Monday after a brief illness.

While Braugher peppered his résumé with comedies, many will remember him for his ferocious portrayal of Detective Frank Pembleton in the NBC drama Homicide: Life on the Street. Put him in “the box,” sweating out and outsmarting crime suspects in the interrogation room, and you were looking at a weekly dose of tour de force acting, as good as it got on television during that time. He won an Emmy for that show he starred in from 1992-98. His wife, Ami Brabson, recurred as Pembleton’s wife on Homicide.

The beloved Canadian teen drama Degrassi — whose notable graduates include the rapper Drake and The Vampire Diaries‘ Nina Dobrev — is getting the documentary treatment.

A three-part docuseries is currently in the works, according to Variety. The series will utilize behind-the-scenes footage and interviews to “dive into Degrassi lore and the teenage experience with its creators, cast, crew and fans, as well as generations of filmmakers influenced by the franchise’s 40-year legacy,” per the description.

Daniel Radcliffe won’t be competing against his Merrily We Roll Along Broadway co-star Jonathan Groff for a Tony Award next June, and the reason has nothing to do with performance quality: The awards administration committee ruled today that Radcliffe will be eligible in the featured performer category, apparently leaving the lead category to Groff.

Lindsay Mendez, who plays Mary Flynn, the musical’s most prominent female character, will, like Radcliffe, who plays Charley Kringas, be eligible in the featured slot (the Tony’s equivalent to Oscar’s “supporting” categories).

While Groff’s character of Franklin Shepard has traditionally been considered the main character of the Stephen Sondheim-George Furth musical, this year’s hit Maria Friedman-directed revival included the three stars’ names above the title, leaving some wiggle room with regard to the category decisions.

Eric McCormack’s wife, Janet Leigh Holden, has filed for divorce from the Will & Grace star after 26 years of marriage.

Holden filed with the Los Angeles County Superior Court on November 22, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the cause for separation. She is seeking spousal support and has requested that the court terminate the actor’s eligibility to be awarded spousal support.

McCormack and Holden met on the set of Lonesome Dove in 1994. The couple married in August 1997 and share one son, 21-year-old Finnigan Holden McCormack.

“I met my wife, Janet, in 1994 on the set of a TV series,” McCormack wrote in an essay for The Guardian in 2007. “I was just coming out of a relationship, and not to be trusted. I’d been dating actresses but Janet was different. She wore jeans, drove a pick-up truck.”

The 60-year-old actor, best known for his portrayal of Will Truman on Will & Grace, married his wife in August 1997. However, she filed legal paperwork to dissolve their union.

Court documents revealed the reason for their split, and what she’s asking of Eric as they move forward.

Will & Grace celebrated it’s 25th anniversary this year!

The NBC comedy – starring Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes and Megan Mullally – first premiered in September 1998 and ran for eight seasons before going off the air in 2006, but was then revived in 2017 and went on for an additional three seasons.

Here’s a synopsis: Will and Grace are best friends and roommates. With pals Karen and Jack, it’s all fair game for this outspoken foursome, from sex and dating to cutting cultural commentary.

Throughout it’s years, the show has seen numerous big name guest stars, including Harry Connick Jr, Cher, Gene Wilder, Debbie Reynolds, Jennifer Lopez and many more.

The series was loved by both fans and critics, earning 96 Emmy nominations with 18 wins, including acting wins for each cast member.

Staying strong was Merrily We Roll Along, enjoying another sell-out week, with the roster’s top average ticket price of $238.20 pushing the weekly gross to a new Hudson Theatre house record of $1,840,835.

Notable too was I Need That, the new Theresa Rebeck comedy starring Danny DeVito and daughter Lucy DeVito. At 94% of capacity at American Airlines Theatre, the non-profit Roundabout Theatre Co. production grossed $608,910 for seven previews. Opening night is Nov. 2.

Non-prof, subscriber-based Manhattan Theatre Club’s Jaja’s African Hair Braiding filled 99% of seats at the Friedman, grossing $351,235 with an average ticket of $68.95.

“Will & Grace” star Eric McCormack appeared on Friday’s “Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon to promote his Broadway show, new British farce “The Cottage.” McCormack also talked about his podcast, “Just Jack & Will,” but he had to dance around getting too specific about the show he co-hosts with “Will & Grace” co-star Sean Hayes.

While unable to specifically talk about the show that the podcast talks about — “Will & Grace” — due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA actors strike, he was able to discuss the podcast itself.

“It’s about a show that I’m not going to talk about, out of respect for the strike we’re on, but they’ve allowed us to talk about the podcast,” McCormack clarified. “And it’s so much fun to be back with my old buddy Sean.”

McCormack explained that Hayes had pitched him doing a podcast about the show during lunch together.

Exclusive: Taye Diggs, known for his five-season run starring as the beloved Billy Baker, former NFL player turned high school football coach, on CW’s All American, has signed with A Management Company and Global Artists Agency for representation.

Diggs can next be seen leading the two-part BET film Love & Murder: Atlanta Playboy based on the true crime story of businessman Lance Herndon. In the film, Diggs stars as Lance (Diggs), a successful Atlanta businessman, renowned in equal measure for both revolutionizing the city’s 911 system, and his womanizing ways.
