Prime Target is coming to Apple TV early next year. The streaming service has announced the premiere date for the new thriller series and released three first-look photos. The series was ordered in February, and eight episodes were produced.

Leo Woodall and Quintessa Swindell star in the Prime Target series, which follows a young mathematician (Woodall) on the verge of a breakthrough. “One Day” star Leo Woodall swaps TV presenting for complex math problems in his latest series, “Prime Target.”

In first-look images from the upcoming Apple TV thriller, Woodall is dressed up as math postgraduate Edward Brooks, complete with tweed jacket and leather-bound notebook, while co-star Quintessa Swindell (“Black Adam”) plays no-nonsense Nsa agent Taylah Sanders.

“Prime Target” follows Brooks, who is on the verge of a major computational breakthrough, as he realizes someone is trying to destroy his idea – while Sanders has been ordered to spy on him and report on his behavior. Together, they begin to realize that Brooks is in fact at the heart of a troubling conspiracy.

Alvin Rakoff, the veteran Canadian filmmaker best known for pics like the 1982 feature A Voyage Round My Father starring Laurence Olivier, died in Chiswick, London, October 12 surrounded by his family. He was 97.

Rakoff’s former personal agent confirmed the news with Deadline this morning.

Born on on February 6, 1927, in Toronto Rakoff was the third of seven children. After graduating from the University of Toronto with a psychology degree, Rakoff spent time as a news reporter. His first job as a writer was with the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC), which later sponsored Rakoff to visit the UK. Within days of arriving, he sold his first fiction script to the BBC. He was soon invited to join the BBC’s director’s training course and, the following year at the age of twenty-six, Rakoff became the youngest producer/director in the BBC drama department.

The Irish Film & Television Academy (IFTA) has selected Rich Peppiatt’s Kneecap as Ireland’s representative in the Oscars international feature film category for the 2025 awards.

UK-born, Belfast-based filmmaker Peppiatt directs the music biopic of Belfast rap trio Kneecap, that stars the real-life band alongside a cast including Michael Fassbender, Simone Kirby, Josie Walker, Fionnuala Flaherty, Jessica Reynolds and Adam Best.

The film is set in west Belfast in 2019, when fate brings Belfast schoolteacher JJ into the orbit of Naoise and Liam Óg, who form an Irish-language hip-hop act, and become unlikely figureheads for a civil rights movement to save their mother tongue.

We don’t get a ton of Gothic or romanticized horror anymore, at least not in the sense of the old days. The old days had a bit of a stretch too as I’m talking about the Universal classics and Val Lewton all the way through at least the early run of Hammer Films. To that end, what creature is more romantic or at least romanticized than Dracula and any of his vampire off shoots? While many of the vampiric screen adaptations have that feel to them from Frank Langella to Gary Oldman and David Bowie sandwiched in between, there are few vampires who embody that ideology more than those found in the writings of Anne Rice. The Shudder streaming service and IFC Films, both of which are owned by AMC Networks, have secured a deal with boutique Blu-ray and DVD label Severin Films to put together eleven special edition physical media releases of some of the most popular Originals and licensed features in the Shudder and IFC Films library, Variety reports.

The Oscar, BAFTA, Golden Globe and SAG award winner on Saturday night added perhaps a final statue to his flawless haul of honors for Christopher Nolan’s “Oppenheimer,” when he was named best lead actor at the 21st Irish Film and TV Academy Awards.

‘Camomile Lawn’ Novelist’s Estate Snapped Up By Ilp

International Literary Properties has acquired the estate of British The Camomile Lawn novelist Mary Wesley. Channel 4’s adaptation of The Camomile Lawn is Channel 4’s second most successful drama series of all time, according to Ilp, and the deal will see Ilp manage the rights to Wesley’s work. Having famously published her first novel aged 70, she also wrote the likes of Jumping the Queue, Harnessing Peacocks and The Vacillations of Poppy Carew, all of which have previously been adapted for film and TV. “Mary was an incredible woman, an extraordinary author and a very close member of my family,” said Wesley’s daughter in law, the author Xinran Xue. Deadline revealed last year that Ilp, which holds rights to the literary estates of Langston Hughes and Evelyn Waugh, had headed on a West Coast charm offensive and snapped up the estate of Somerset Maugham.

White Lotus and One Day breakout Leo Woodall is leading an Apple TV thriller opposite Black Adam star Quintessa Swindell about a young maths graduate who discovers the secret to prime numbers, with Ridley Scott producing.

Woodall will play Edward Brook in Prime Target and Scott’s indie Scott Free is producing with New Regency. The show is created by Sherlock scribe Steve Thompson.

Woodall, who is having a moment following performances in HBO’s White Lotus and new Netflix adaptation One Day, is a maths graduate on the verge of succeeded in finding a pattern in prime numbers, which would hold the key to every computer in the world. Soon he begins to realize an unseen enemy is trying to destroy his idea before it’s even born, which throws him into the orbit of Taylah Sanders (Swindell), a female Nsa agent, who’s been tasked with watching and reporting on mathematicians’ behavior.

Fresh off his work in Netflix’s One Day, Leo Woodall is now set to lead Prime Target, a conspiracy thriller ordered at Apple TV on Wednesday.

Spanning eight episodes, Prime Target stars Woodall (who also made a splash in The White Lotus‘ sophomore season) as Edward Brooks, a brilliant young math post-graduate on the verge of a major breakthrough: If he succeeds in finding a pattern in prime numbers, he’ll hold the key to every computer in the world.

“One Day” star Leo Woodall and “Black Adam’s” Quintessa Swindell are set to lead a new thriller series for Apple TV titled “Prime Target.”

Created by Steve Thompson (“Sherlock”) and produced by New Regency with Ridley Scott’s Scott Free, the eight-episode drama follows a mathematical genius as he’s plunged into a troubling conspiracy just as he’s about to make a major computational breakthrough.

Woodall plays math post-graduate Edward Brooks, who’s on the verge of working out how to access every computer in the world via a unique mathematical pattern when he realizes an someone is trying to stop him. Swindell takes on the role of Nsa agent Taylah Sanders, whose job is to watch and report on mathematicians with world-changing ideas.

“Together they start to piece together the troubling conspiracy Edward is at the heart of,” reads the logline.

For years, all I could remember was a figure in the woods stabbing someone. It was so simple, and so cold. No fancy camera work. No overdramatic score.
