Jeff Lieberman is one of my favorite directors that you don’t hear referenced often enough. He has directed several awesome movies that have dealt with subject matter like killer worms (Squirm), LSD freakouts (Blue Sunshine), homicidal mountain men (Just Before Dawn), brainwashing aliens (Remote Control), and a serial killer stalking the streets on Halloween (Satan’s Little Helper). Thankfully, legendary drive-in critic and movie host Joe Bob Briggs will be shining a spotlight on Lieberman during this year’s special Halloween presentation of his Shudder series The Last Drive-in with Joe Bob Briggs, a special that’s called Joe Bob’s Beelzebub Bash! The special is set to air on Friday, October 25th at 9pm Et on Shudder and AMC in the US & Canada.

Happy 30th to Pulp Fiction. Quentin Tarantino made a grand entrance with Reservoir Dogs, but it was 1994’s Pulp Fiction that solidified him as the director to watch with his unique brand of intermingling stories and 70s-inspired aesthetics. For the 30th anniversary, Pulp Fiction is returning to the silver screen in October for special presentations featuring pristine new 35mm prints in select theatres across the U.S. In addition, the film will be released on 4K Ultra HD in a 30th Anniversary Collector’s Edition on December 3, 2024, from Paramount Home Entertainment.
Pulp Fiction was such a milestone that not only did it catapult Tarantino’s career immensely, but the film would also become the comeback for John Travolta and it would be the breakout for Samuel L. Jackson. He would be a standout early on in the film with a Bible verse monologue right before executing an unlucky individual. Jackson...

Paul Giamatti is one of the finest actors going. He is the true "character actor" archetype we're told so much about. The type of performer who can't be typecast and will dive deep into any role given to him. Truly a talented thespian and an amazing get for the folks behind Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.
Yet, the multi-time award winner is coming in with some outlandish hype around his name. Not too dissimilar from one a pro sports team lands a major free agent, landing Giamatti was unexpected. He may arguably be the best actor that Star Trek has acquired in not just years, but maybe decades (if not ever). Yet, a talented performer needs more than what they bring to the table.
They need a script. More importantly, they need a well-crafted character supported by said script. So color I was shocked when I saw ScreenRant post a shocking...

It was in the third season of Star Trek: Picard when Stephanie Czajkowski found herself playing a part-Deltan/part-Vulcan aboard the bridge of the USS Titan, captained by Liam Shaw [Todd Stashwick]. Czajkowski didn't know originally that she was auditioning for a role on Star Trek, but once she was aboard, she would look around every day and marvel at the fact that was on an "iconic bridge" and knew it "was only going to last for so long."
Czajkowski was right, but it wasn't because the series was ending. Her character, T'Veen, didn't make it to the end of the season as the character was killed by Vadic [Amanda Plummer] in the eighth episode "Surrender." She learned of the upcoming death of her character by that episode's director, Deborah Kampmeier. Samuel L. Jackson has revealed 'Pulp Fiction' nearly had a much more violent ending.Quentin Tarantino's 1994 movie concludes after gangster Jules (Jackson) manages to convince Pumpkin (Tim Roth) and Honey Bunny (Amanda Plummer) to peacefully end their diner robbery by reciting the fictionalised Bible passage Ezekiel 25:17 at them, but the 75-year-old actor has now shared the flick almost ended with a more grizzly sequence. During a video uploaded to GQ's YouTube channel where Jackson reflected on his Hollywood career, he said: "In 'Pulp Fiction' - in the original script - in the diner - when Tim first comes over and he asks about the briefcase, he opens it up. And when he opens it, I shoot Honey Bunny off the bar. And I shoot his a** and kill him. "They do a cut and I open my eyes, and it's what I would've done before I got...

"Star Trek: Picard" was bound to upset some fans when it became a "Star Trek: The Next Generation" reunion -- with all that entails. Fan service and new, exciting ideas were displayed in equal measure, but the characters and universe of "Tng" are somewhat sacred to Trekkies, and any changes to that universe are usually controversial. In fact, one tiny moment of improv ended up being one of the series' most controversial moments, as Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) used some rather blue language in a conversation with his newly-discovered son, Jack (Ed Speleers).
That's right, Picard drops an F-bomb in the third season's fourth episode, "No Win Scenario." "Star Trek: Picard" streams on Paramount , after all, so there are no network rules about swearing to worry about, but some fans felt that the use of foul language was out of character for Picard and was the series just trying to be "edgy.

UTA Independent Film Group has acquired Uwe Boll’s upcoming migrant crisis thriller “Run,” starring Emmy and Tony award winner Amanda Plummer (“Star Trek: Picard”) and James Russo (“Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1”).
UTA will handle global sales for the pic, produced by Boll’s U.S.-Canadian shingle Event Film and his German outfit Bolu.
UTA takes over from the film’s initial sales company, Stuttgart-based Kinostar, headed by “Run” executive producer Michael Roesch. The move is seen as an advantage for potential worldwide deals.
“We are thrilled to work with UTA for the global sales of ‘Run’ and can’t wait to introduce the movie to audiences around the world,” said Boll.
“We are excited that UTA loves the strong performances of our ensemble cast as much as we do, and we can’t wait to start working with them,” added Roesch.

The resistance has begun. In Oldenburg.
The official trailer for the 2024 Oldenburg Film Festival, dropped on Wednesday (see below). It imagines a future world in which Germany’s leading indie film festival is the center of a human uprising against a world ruled by superintelligent A.I. that has resulted in a “deconstruction of empathy and emotion” and a “dehumanization of culture by algorithms.”
The trailer, which you can check out below, is done in the style of La Jetée, Chris Marker’s groundbreaking 1962 French science fiction featurette, which used mainly still photos to tell a time travel story set in a post-nuclear war world.
Pulp Fiction star, and 2016 Oldenburg Film Festival lifetime award winner, Amanda Plummer provides the voice-over commentary for the film, which clocks in at nearly 5 minutes. “Definitely the longest festival trailer of all times,” jokes Oldenburg co-founder and director Torsten Neumann.

Though the title of the awards has changed over the decades, the two guest star in a drama series Emmys are among the most competitive handed out during the Creative Arts ceremony. Cicely Tyson earned the most nomination in this category with nine. Michael J. Dutton, Cherry Jones, Ron Cephas Jones, John Lithgow, Shirley Knight, Margo Martindale, Patrick McGoohan, Amanda Plummer and Alfre Woodward have each won twice.
This year five drama nominees appeared in FX’s “Mr. and Mrs. Smith“- Michaela Cole, Paul Dano, Sarah Paulson, Parker Posey and John Turturro. Celebrating 30 years of excellency, Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction is coming back to cinemas in glorious 4K. More details below.
It’s hard to believe that Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction turns 30 years old, but here we are. We’re still convinced that the film came out only a few years ago, but apparently 1994 was 30 years ago. How time flies.
The film is heading back into UK cinemas to celebrate its landmark birthday and this is your chance to see the film in 4K, too. You can catch Pulp Fiction in cinemas from 23rd August.
Pulp Fiction was Tarantino’s second film and arguably lifted the filmmaker from a talent to watch to Hollywood royalty. The film starred John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson, Uma Thurman, Harvey Keitel, Tim Roth, Amanda Plummer, Maria de Medeiros, Ving Rhames, Eric Stoltz, Rosanna Arquette, Christopher Walken and Bruce Willis and they’re pretty excellent too.

Scroll through our photo gallery to learn who else is in this exclusive group.
Of the 28 women on this list, nine took the gold for at least one of their nominated performances. The one who triumphed most recently was Cherry Jones, whose consecutive victories for “The Handmaid’s Tale” (2019) and “Succession” (2020) made her the category’s fourth two-show winner, after Shirley Knight (“Thirtysomething”; “NYPD Blue”), Alfre Woodard (“L.A. When you consider how long both the Star Trek and Star Wars franchises have existed, the list of actors who have appeared in both is surprisingly short, but Ahsoka star Rosario Dawson came close to becoming part of that exclusive club.
While speaking at Fan Expo Boston, Dawson explained that she had been asked to do something in Star Trek but had to turn it down as she had just signed on to do Ahsoka. “I could have been one of Odo’s species, the changeling. I could have been an immortal puddle guys. Do you understand my pain (she said clenching her eyes tight). That would have been really cool,” Dawson said via The Telegram. “I also really pushed to be a ‘Q.’ My dad. That was my dad (donning a masculine voice and pointing to her dad in the audience), ‘Be Q.’ I’m like, I’m trying.

In the "Star Trek: Picard" episode "Võx", Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis) used her empathic abilities to reach into the mind of Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers) to explain the mysterious, brief psychic spells he periodically and uncontrollably falls under. Jack had revealed that he possessed martial arts skills he never knew he had, can occasionally read people's thoughts, and even invade the brains of others, taking control of their bodies. Nothing is known about Jack's powers, other than he was being murderously pursued by Vadic (Amanda Plummer), a vengeful Changeling who hoped to unlock their secrets.
It seems that years ago, the Federation kidnapped several Changelings, including Vadic, and performed cruel medical experiments on them. Vadic only wants revenge for the Federation's unacknowledged war crimes. Jack has something to do with her plan.

There are many great shows in this world and many of them get canceled unjustly, and they don’t get to finish the story they were trying to tell what’s even sadder is that sometimes they end on a note that needs some type of resolution and if it’s a Netflix original series there is even a higher chance of that. So, today we are making a list of every Netflix original series that was canceled in 2024.

Henry Fonda earned his first Oscar nomination for his indelible turn as Tom Joad who becomes head of his family of Oklahoma tenant farmers in John Ford’s 1940 masterpiece “The Grapes of Wrath’ based on John Steinbeck’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel. Another big award show took place this weekend (in addition to the SAG Awards), the Film Independent Spirit Awards, which celebrates indie film and TV. One thing about this awards show is that their idea of independent sometimes makes me scratch my head a bit, with HBO’s big-budget The Last of Us nominated a whole bunch in the TV category, along with Netflix’s Beef and several other streaming shows, which I’m not sure one could call independent. For films, there’s a $30 million budget cap. For TV, I’m honestly not sure what the benchmark is because Last of Us was notoriously an expensive show to shoot, costing at least $100 million.
Indeed, The Last of Us won some key awards on the TV side, winning Best Supporting Performance (for Nick Offerman) and Best Breakthrough Performance (for Keivonn Montreal Woodard). Over on the film side, American Fiction and...

Ensign Ro Laren (Michelle Forbes) first appeared in the "Star Trek: The Next Generation" episode "Ensign Ro", and she introduced an interesting character dynamic to the series. Whereas most of the characters on "Next Generation" were wholly devoted to Starfleet principals and unwaveringly loyal to Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart), Ensign Ro felt that Starfleet frequently let suffering go unacknowledged. She was combative and disobedient as a result, often openly defying her captain and responding to diplomatic solutions with belligerence.
Forbes' performance was so assured and defiant, however, that Ro's disobedience never felt impulsive or immature. Her reactions were organic and principled, revealing a hardened but understandable heart. Ro only appeared in eight episodes of "Next Generation," but she was always welcome to shake up the system and offer metaphorical headbutts to her commanding officers.

Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will open the 15th annual TCM Classic Film Festival on Thursday, April 18 with a 35mm screening of the classic neo-noir Pulp Fiction (1994). Two-time Academy Award nominee John Travolta will attend to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the film.

“American Horror Story” creator Ryan Murphy and frequent “AHS” star Sarah Paulson reunited back in 2020 for Netflix’s “Ratched,” an 8-episode series telling the origin story of iconic One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest villain Nurse Mildred Ratched. The series invited us to “meet the woman before the monster,” and the original plan was for a two season storyline.
Those plans have changed, however. As reported by Deadline, Sarah Paulson has confirmed this week that there will not be a second season of Netflix’s “Ratched” after all.
Two seasons of “Ratched” had originally been ordered up back in 2017.
Here’s the plot synopsis for the first season, which is streaming on Netflix…
“In 1947, Mildred arrives in Northern California to seek employment at a leading psychiatric hospital where new and unsettling experiments have begun on the human mind. On a clandestine mission, Mildred presents herself as the perfect image...

The respectable Saturn Awards were first launched in 1973 by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films, and have been presented annually ever since.
"Star Trek: The Next Generation" has won multiple Saturns in the past, notably winning Best Genre Series twice during its initial run. Additionally, Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner won Saturns for their acting, playing Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Lieutenant Commander Data respectively. Frustratingly, no other member of the show's venerated ensemble won Saturns for their performance.
Until now. As announced by TrekMovie, a special Lifetime Achievement Saturn award will be given to Stewart, Spiner, Marina Sirtis, Gates McFadden, Michael Dorn, LeVar Burton, Jonathan Frakes, and Wil Wheaton. The history behind the making of Quentin Tarantino's 1994 movie "Pulp Fiction" is almost as winding and complex as the movie itself, as the young director fought to get his sophomore film made in spite of what seemed like insurmountable odds. Among the difficulties facing Tarantino was the fact that his script was hand-written and barely legible, which isn't exactly the kind of thing that inspires faith in investors. Thankfully, he had the help of typist and photographer Julie Chen, who took Tarantino's handwritten script and typed it up, making it readable for executives. She also let him crash at her place and worked for free, which makes Chen the unsung Mvp of "Pulp Fiction," but someone else got a shout-out in the movie instead: her dead pet rabbit.
In an interview with CBS News in 2014, Chen revealed her full involvement in the creation of "Pulp Fiction" and shared some...

The working relationship between writer and director Quentin Tarantino and actor Tim Roth is excellent, going all the way back to Tarantino's first feature, "Reservoir Dogs." So when it came to his second film, "Pulp Fiction," Tarantino knew he wanted to have Roth involved in some capacity and was going to write a character in the film with him specifically in mind. That character wasn't the now-infamous Pumpkin, however, and the creation of Pumpkin and Amanda Plummer's character Honey Bunny had a whole lot to do with a hilarious request on Roth's part. It's hard to imagine "Pulp Fiction" without Pumpkin and Honey Bunny, who kick off the entire movie with their loving and slightly terrifying conversation immediately before holding up a diner at gunpoint. But according to both Roth and Tarantino, the pairing was somewhat serendipitous.
Apparently Tarantino was at the premiere of Plummer's film "The Fisher King,...

The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering The Prophecy was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Travis Hopson, Edited by Victoria Verduzco, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
When it comes to religious-themed horror, there are a few films out there worth watching and when it comes to the early to mid-1990s, a few films really stand out in the dark, moody horror realm. These genres overlap quite a bit, and one stellar example of dark, moody, religious horror is the 1995 film The Prophecy (watch it Here), starring Christopher Walken as the archangel Gabriel, Elias Koteas, Virginia Madsen, Viggo Mortensen, Eric Stoltz, and Amanda Plummer. The film had a stacked cast for 1995 and it seemed to do decently in horror circles but not so much outside of that. So, what happened to The Prophecy?
What is The Prophecy about?...

In the third and final season of "Star Trek: Picard," a vicious Changeling named Captain Vadic (Amanda Plummer) is eager to apprehend Jack Crusher (Ed Speleers), the son of Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart). Vadic is a vicious killer who has no compunction about blowing up ships and murdering thousands. It seems she and several of her Changeling compatriots were medically tortured during the Dominion War (a conflict dramatized on "Star Trek: Deep Space Nine") and was in no mood to offer forgiveness. Vadic commanded a starship she called the Shrike, a massive, pointy, claw-like vessel that was armed to the teeth. Captain Riker (Jonathan Frakes) took one look at the Shrike and declared it to be more guillotine than starship.
On the bridge of the Shrike, Vadic sat in an enormous chair, surrounded in the shadows by masked servants who fired weapons and cut down enemy combatants. The chair, as it so happens,...

You know, it's pretty refreshing to see the tireless and constantly put-together crew of the USS Enterprise let their hair down sometimes (so to speak) and blow off some steam while on the clock. Tales of the cast of "The Next Generation" goofing off between takes of the original show are practically the stuff of legend, all but driving directors mad with their unparalleled ability to flub lines, break props, and otherwise waste hours and hours of shooting days. So when "Star Trek: Picard" showrunner Terry Matalas gathered the cast together for one final swan song in season 3 of the reunion series, everyone involved simply had to know what they were in for this time around. The Chiller Channel was a huge gateway for me. I had been exposed to whatever my mom watched previous to that, or whatever weird shit I found at 2Am… it’s more than you think. Chiller brought me the things I missed out on when they originally aired. One of those is Night Visions.
Night Visions originally aired in 2001, though it was meant to air the year prior, but one of our previous series, Freakylinks took its place. I’m not upset about this– Freakylinks was the series we deserved. Then on July 6th, 2001, brooding punk poet and man of many black tees, Henry Rollins entered our homes through the small screen. He’d probably give me shit for using the word brooding.

Brand new Boutique label Treasured Films follows up its inaugural release of The Last Hunter with something a little different; Jeff Lieberman’S satirical seasonal shocker Satan’S Little Helper (2004), available now from Treasuredfilms.Co.UK
It’s Halloween and nine year old Douglas (Alexander Brickel) is obsessed with playing his favourite video game ‘Satan’s Little Helper’, something he immerses himself in when his big sister Jenna (Katheryn Winnick – Vikings) comes back to visit. Before long Douglas happens upon a serial killer dressed up as the dark prince himself, and naively thinks his video game has taken on a new lifelike dimension. As the situation become deadlier, however, Douglas begins to think it may not be a game afterall as his family and all around them try and survive Halloween night from his devilish new friend.

Four excellent new movies are waiting to whet your Fourth of July weekend appetite. At least two are family-friendly affairs, but all of them have a joyful spirit that’s apt for holiday viewing.
The contender to watch this week: “Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret“
Kelly Fremon Craig‘s charming adaptation of Judy Blume‘s YA classic did modest business in theaters, so it deserves a second life on VOD. Craig, who established her teen movie bona fides with 2016’s “The Edge of Seventeen,” perfectly captures the book’s shrewd spirit. She cast “Ant-Man” actress Abby Ryder Fortson as Margaret Simon, an 11-year-old forced to move to a new town where she and her friends endure the anxieties of puberty. Craig’s acclaimed script could make her a Best Adapted Screenplay contender, and the supporting cast — particularly Rachel McAdams and Benny Safdie as Margaret’s lovingly scattered parents — are equally worthy Oscar candidates.

During a recent Gold Derby video interview, senior editor Daniel Montgomery and contributor Tony Ruiz spoke in-depth with Patrick Stewart (“Star Trek: Picard”) about his Paramount Plus sci-fi drama, which is eligible at the 2023 Emmys. Watch the full video above and read the complete interview transcript below.
While the final season finds Stewart’s iconic character, Jean-Luc Picard, in the comfort of working with his old crew, the admiral is far from comfortable. He deals with the sudden discovery that he has a grown son (Ed Speleers) with Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden) that he must protect from Vadic (Amanda Plummer), a vengeance-seeking Changeling hell bent on capturing Picard’s son.
“It was in every sense, an extraordinary experience,” Stewart revealed about his three-season return to the world of “Star Trek.” The legendary actor later added, “And although I had serious doubts to begin with, at the end, I regretted nothing.

“We’re all blessed in some ways but also cursed to have the amount of legacy on this show because it means that you have almost 56 years of creative material to draw from, but that also means you have a lot of rules and regulations and canon that you have to adhere to. So there’s a kind of pressure to it as well,” notes “Star Trek: Picard” showrunner Terry Matalas about the technical details that have accumulated throughout “Trek” history. We talked to Matalas for our “Making Of” panel series along with costume designer Michael Crow, makeup department head James MacKinnon, prosthetics designer Vincent Van Dyke and visual effects supervisor Jason Zimmerman. Watch our roundtable discussion above.
