Ted Danson was, well, anxious to talk to Bill Hader on this week’s Where Everybody Knows Your Name podcast because the two comic actors have something in common. “I listened to a podcast where you were talking about anxiety attacks,” said Danson. “And I went, Ah! A kindred spirit!”

Hader has talked about his mental health issues in several forums, but not without reservation. “There will be moments where I’m like, ‘Oh man, am I going to be known as the anxiety guy?’”

So why is he so willing to share? “I just remember Saturday Night Live, feeling that way,” he said. Hader would Google information about anxiety while he was on the show, but he “could never find a thing that I related to. It was either not enough, or it was really intense.”

So despite his mixed feelings, Hader talks about his issues to help others going through similar trials.

After that “forking” twist in the first season finale, we all thought the same thing: The Good Place is here to stay for a long time. But no, the series came to a fitting conclusion just after four seasons and 53 episodes. So what happened? Fans should’ve taken the hint from creator Michael Schur when he said that the series is not your typical “200-episode, Friends kind of a deal.”

At a time when most popular TV series struggle to conclude gracefully and lose direction by dragging on, The Good Place made the “ethically” right choice. Exclusive: Lionsgate has snapped up rights to Three Hitmen and a Baby, an action comedy spec from Dave Matalon (Totally Killer) and Matt Altman (Red Widow), Deadline can exclusively reveal.

Pic’s logline is being kept under wraps, though its title clearly riffs on the classic 1987 comedy Three Men and a Baby, starring Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg, and Ted Danson, about three bachelors whose lives change forever when a baby suddenly appears on their doorstep. Kelly McCormick and David Leitch will produce through their company 87North, for whom Max Jacoby is overseeing the project. Meredith Wieck and Jon Humphrey are overseeing for Lionsgate.

Screenwriter Matalon most recently co-wrote the slasher comedy Totally Killer! for Blumhouse and Amazon, which headlined Prime Video’s Halloween season last year. As we first reported, his sci-fi action script Level Up, also written with Altman, is in development with The Hideaway and Vandal Entertainment.

Netflix has released the trailer for its comedy series “A Man on the Inside.” The series stars “The Good Place” actor Ted Danson and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” alum Mary Elizabeth Ellis as a father- daughter duo. The series was created by Mike Schur and is based on the 2020 documentary feature “The Mole Agent,” which was nominated for an Oscar. The series premieres on Nov. 21.

The eight-episode series follows a retired professor (Danson) who decides to move into the Pacific View Retirement Home in San Francisco in order to help a private investigator, Julie (Lilah Richcreek Estrada), find a missing heirloom. He also reconnects with his estranged daughter, Emily (Ellis).

In the trailer for “A Man on the Inside,” Charles (Danson) receives a challenge from his daughter, Emily (Mary Elizabeth Ellis), who expresses concern about his retirement lifestyle in the wake of her mother and his wife’s death, saying, “When mom was alive, they lived this big, full life.”

“I’m giving you a challenge — find something that excites you,” she tells her dad, who answers, “It’s a good challenge; I accept.”

Rather quickly, Charles finds an ad for an investigative assistant, with the requirement that the applicant be aged 75-85. He learns the gig is to find a missing family heirloom that has disappeared within a retirement community, and his job is to pretend to be a new resident, all while sharing intel and a suspect...

Premiering Nov. 21 and based on the Oscar-nominated documentary The Mole Agent, the eight-episode series follows a retired man, Charles (Danson), who gets a new lease on life when he answers an ad placed by a private detective and becomes a mole in a secret investigation of the Pacific View Retirement Residence in San Francisco.

The show, which Netflix gave a straight-to-series order in March 2023, is based on the Oscar-nominated documentary The Mole Agent. Danson plays Charles, a retired professor who’s in a rut following the death of his wife, having grown distant from his daughter, Emily (Mary Elizabeth Ellis). Netflix describes the show this way:
