Exclusive: Spenser Granese (Dope Thief) is the newest addition to the cast of Marty Supreme, director Josh Safdie’s new film for A24, starring Timothée Chalamet, sources tell Deadline.

Character details are under wraps, as with the film’s plot, though the project supposedly takes loose inspiration from the story of professional ping pong player Marty Reisman. Sources close to the production have stressed, at the same time, that it’s a fictionalized original, rather than a biopic.

Pic’s eclectic ensemble also includes Gwyneth Paltrow, musician Tyler, The Creator, Odessa A’zion, magician Penn Jillette, Shark Tank panelist and entrepreneur Kevin O’Leary (aka Mr. Wonderful), Fran Drescher, Sandra Bernhard, and filmmaker Abel Ferrara.

Production is currently underway, with Safdie working from his script written with Ronald Bronstein. The duo produces alongside Eli Bush, Anthony Katagas, Chalamet and A24.

Andra Day will join season two of Disney’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians as Athena, the network announced Sunday.

Day’s Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, is the mother of Annabeth Chase (played Leah Sava Jeffries) in Rick Riordan’s wildly popular teen book series.

“I can’t wait to bring her to life and work alongside such talented actors,” Day said in a video statement after Disney announced the news. “Stay tuned for this epic journey y’all.”

Day’s casting is the most recent in a string of updates that Disney has released regarding Percy Jackson‘s upcoming season two. Jeffries will return as Annabeth along with Walker Scobell (the titular Percy), Aryan Simhadri (Grover), Charlie Bushnell (Luke) and Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse). On Sunday, the Oscar nominee made a surprise appearance at New York City’s Madison Square Park, where hundreds of fans gathered to compete in a Timothée Chalamet lookalike contest.

In videos shared to social media, several doppelgängers posed for photos in the sea of people before the Dune star joined them, resulting in some genuinely shocked faces. A frenzy broke out as he hugged his admirers and posed with them.

Season two of Percy Jackson and the Olympians has cast another important role.

Tamara Smart (Netflix’s Resident Evil) is joining the series based on author Rick Riordan’s Greek mythology-laden novels as Thalia Grace, the demigod daughter of Zeus. She’ll recur in season two, which is in production and slated for a 2025 premiere.

Smart is the latest addition to the season two cast. Daniel Diemer, who plays Tyson the cyclops, will be a series regular alongside Walker Scobell (Percy), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth), Aryan Simhadri (Grover), Charlie Bushnell (Luke) and Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse). Sandra Bernhard, Kristen Schaal and Margaret Cho will have guest roles as the Gray Sisters.

In Riordan’s novels, Thalia is a friend of Annabeth and Luke who sacrifices herself so they can reach Camp Half-Blood safely. Zeus intervenes to stop Thalia from dying, turning her into a tree that anchors the protective veil around the camp.

Simons will appear in recurring guest star role in the Disney adaptation of the Rick Riordan book series, playing the role of Tantalus.

The Disney Original series Percy Jackson and the Olympians made a splash at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event today, with a panel featuring the cast and more. The panel featured series stars Walker Scobell (Percy Jackson), Leah Sava Jeffries (Annabeth Chase), and Aryan Simhadri (Grover Underwood), with Charlie Bushnell (Luke Castellan) and Dior Goodjohn (Clarisse La Rue) who join as series regulars this season.

Disney revealed at D23 on Saturday the trio of women who will be playing the Gray Sisters — Sandra Bernhard as Anger, Kristen Schaal as Tempest, and Margaret Cho as Wasp.

In Rick Riordan’s ever-expanding world of mythology, the Gray Sisters are old women who share one eye and one tooth, and they operate a “taxi firm” in New York City. They encounter a few of the main characters after scooping them up while they’re on the run in Sea of Monsters.

Bernhard will portray Anger, the Gray Sister in charge of collecting cab fare from heroes who call upon the taxi. Anger impatiently awaits her turn to use the one eye shared between the Sisters.

“Babes” is a hilarious riff on women friendships/bonding and an unexpected pregnancy. Eden and Dawn (Michelle Buteau) are besties, having grown up together in New York City, and are now firmly in different phases of adulthood. When carefree and single Eden finds herself pregnant after a one night stand, she decides to have a baby on her own, and her friendship with Dawn will face its greatest challenge. “Babes” is a hilarious and heartfelt comedy about the bonds of friendship and the messy, unpredictable challenges of adulthood and becoming a parent.
