After nearly three years, “Severance” is back with the first trailer for its highly anticipated Season 2, debuting on Apple TV on Jan. 17.

In the trailer, Adam Scott’s Mark S. returns to the office after exposing his “innie” to the outside world and learning that his wife (who he thought died in a car accident) is actually alive, and working at Lumon as the wellness counselor Ms. Casey.

After frantically dashing down those stark-white hallways, Mark enters his workspace to find three unfamiliar Lumon employees — sitting in the desks formerly occupied by Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro) and Dylan (Zach Cherry). HBO Releases “Dune: Prophecy” First Look

The rise of the Sisterhood is nigh. HBO has released the first official image of Emily Watson as Bene Gesserit leader Valya Harkonnen from its upcoming “Dune“-iverse series “Dune: Prophecy.”

Severance has its premiere date for its second season. Apple TV announced the return of the sci-fi psychological thriller series with the release of a teaser. Production on season two began in November 2022.

The return to the sinister Lumen Industries now has a release date as well as returning cast members who operate with “severed” personalities outside of Lumen employment and within headquarters. The Apple TV show will continue to explore the “work-life balance” experiment, which seems rooted in something dark, in its second installment.

The second season of Severance arrives on Friday, January 17. The double strike in Hollywood delayed production on the suspenseful show after it was renewed in April 2022, but before then, Scott appeared on Deadline’s 20 Questions On Deadline Podcast in August 2022 to tease the return to filming.

One of the buzziest shows of recent times has to be Apple TV ’s sci-fi psychological thriller series Severance, which came out with its initial season all the way back in 2022. Apple TV released a teaser for Season 2 of the workplace thriller, which will debut on the streamer on Friday, Jan. 17. The 10-episode season will drop weekly episodes on Fridays after that.

Adam Scott stars as Mark Scout, who works a desk job at a mysterious biotech company known as Lumon. The controversial corporation performs procedures in which employees’ psyches are bifurcated to separate work memories from personal memories, creating Innies (employees’ at-work personas) and Outties (their selves outside of the office). Patricia Arquette stars as the manager of the severed employees, as well as Mark’s next-door neighbor. “My reaction was, ‘This is great,’” he told People. “I was thrilled and couldn’t wait to get there, and get the cameras rolling and film it.”

Adam also spoke about his time working alongside the new cast members and returning to set with director Ben Stiller.

Severance is “Back to work.” Director and executive producer Ben Stiller took to Instagram this morning to confirm that the Apple TV drama series had returned to production after a months-long delay due to the Hollywood strikes.

Stiller’s Instagram post, captioned “Back to work,” features a black-and-white photo of star Adam Scott running through what appears to be a hallway at Lumon Industries.

Severance had paused production on Season 2 in May when the WGA went on strike, which was then followed by the SAG-AFTRA walkout. With both strikes long resolved, production is now back on course.

Herman Raucher, a best-selling author and the Academy Award nominated screenwriter of “Summer of ’42,” died Dec. 28 of natural causes at Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Conn. He was 95.

Raucher got his start in the industry working in live television. He wrote one hour dramas for anthology series including “Studio One,” “Good Year Playhouse” and “The Alcoa Hour.” In his screenwriting career, he wrote the scripts for two films starring Anthony Newley, “Sweet November” (1968) and “Can Heironymus Merkin Ever Forget Mercy Humppe and Find True Happiness?” (1969), which Newley also directed.

Raucher was inspired by Bobbie Gentry’s popular song “Ode to Billie Joe” to write the screenplay for Max Baer Jr.’s 1976 romance film of the same name starring Robby Benson and Glynnis O’Connor. Raucher also co-wrote the script for the 1977 film “The Other Side of Midnight.”

"Severance" season two seems to have hit another snag. Production on the show's next installment has screeched to a halt in New York amid the ongoing writers' strike, Deadline reported on May 8.

Just a few days earlier, star Zach Cherry had confirmed that filming was in progress and said "things have been going good" in a May 4 interview with Entertainment Tonight. Apple TV ’s critically hailed series Severance has begun production on its second season and is almost doubling the size of its regular cast. Eight actors are joining the ensemble, while Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, Britt Lower, Zach Cherry, Dichen Lachman, Jen Tullock, Tramell Tillman, Michael Chernus and Christopher Walken are all set to return.

The newcomers to the cast are Bob Balaban (The French Dispatch), Robby Benson (Beauty and the Beast), Stefano Carannante, Gwendoline Christie (The Sandman, Game of Thrones), John Noble (Fringe), Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (The Tourist), Alia Shawkat (Search Party, The Old Man) and Emmy winner Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie, Unbelievable).

Tom Cruise has admitted he felt ‘nervous’ as a young actor when he first met Paul Newman.

The Mission: Impossible and Top Gun: Maverick star had auditioned for Newman’s film Harry & Son (1984). The role in question was that of Harry’s (Newman) son, Howard Keach – but Cruise ultimately missed out.

Despite Newman being “interested” in Cruise’s “point of view”, the role eventually went to Robby Benson.

Cruise said: “I auditioned for Harry & Son mostly because I wanted to meet Paul. I was nervous. Starting out as a young actor, you want people to like you, you want people to like your work, you want to be accepted.”

He added: “Taps had come out and I think Risky Business. I walked into the office. There’s Joanne [Woodward] knitting, and Newman with a chain around his neck with a beer can opener on it. He was wearing an off-white sweater and jeans.

The Harry Potter cast and fans alike are saddened to hear that Robbie Coltrane has died, his agent, Belinda Wright, confirmed to Popsugar on Oct. 14. He was 72 years old. The actor was best known for his role as Rubeus Hagrid in the wizard franchise, a character he played in all eight films before the Fantastic Beasts prequel movie series.

In the wake of Coltrane's death, tributes from fans and the star's Harry Potter family poured out on social media. Author and creator J.K. Celebrities and fans alike are mourning the death of Angela Lansbury after the actor's family confirmed the news on Oct. 11. In a statement to Variety, they said, "The children of Dame Angela Lansbury are sad to announce that their mother died peacefully in her sleep at home in Los Angeles at 1:30 Am today, Tuesday, October 11, 2022, just five days shy of her 97th birthday."

Lansbury, a Broadway icon and five-time Tony-winning actor, was best known for her iconic roles in 1991's "Beauty and the Beast" and "Murder, She Wrote." Some of her other notable work included starring in "Mame," "Dear World," "Sweeney Todd," "Gypsy," "Blithe Spirit," "Gaslight," "The Picture of Dorian Gray," and "The Manchurian Candidate." During her career, Lansbury was nominated for three Oscars and awarded a lifetime achievement honor from the Academy in 2013.

Joan Hotchkis, who appeared as Oscar Madison’s girlfriend on ABC’s The Odd Couple and in films including Breezy and Ode to Billie Joe before becoming a playwright, screenwriter and feminist performance artist, has died. She was 95.

Hotchkis died Sept. 27 of congestive heart failure in Los Angeles, her daughter, Paula Chambers, announced.

A member of The Actors Studio, Hotchkis played the wife of William Windom’s James Thurber-like cartoonist on the high-concept NBC comedy My World and Welcome to It in 1969-70 and the lascivious Lydia on the five-days-a-week syndicated sitcom The Life and Times of Eddie Roberts in 1980.

In 1974, Hotchkis wrote her first play, Legacy, about a day when an upper-class housewife suffers a mental and emotional breakdown. She starred in the one-woman drama, directed by noted Method acting teacher Eric Morris, at Actors Studio West in Los Angeles.

The late Arthur Barron was a New York-based documentary film director perhaps best known for his two-hour Birth and Death film from 1969, followed by the true story of the Wright Brothers and their road to flight. Nobody was particularly happy that Joan Crawford’s final big-screen performance was in 1970’s “Trog,” probably least of all the actress herself. But that very silly movie about a troglodyte found living in the modern age is at least more fun than “William,” in which a Neanderthal is cloned from an ancient caveman’s DNA. Instead of cheesy sci-fi horror, this is an earnest teen drama of a “Mom and Dad, why am I different from the others?” variety, one that ekes amazingly little excitement from its protagonist’s status as an evolutionary anomaly.

Tim Disney’s film strikes a bland compromise between science-fantasy, suspense-melodrama and family entertainment, developing no element to a level that generates more than mild interest.
